Here is your first look at the remastered version of System Shock

Polygon has released a video, showcasing almost 9 minutes of gameplay footage from the remastered version of System Shock. System Shock will be powered by the Unity Engine and Night Dive Studios aims to create a new game true to the classic experience, ‘keeping all the things you loved, while updating the user interface and graphics to use a modern day engine.’ Enjoy!

  1. Demo to be released tomorrow, on my bday. *-*
Passing on the video, going to wait and experience it for myself.

BTW I still have a key for System Shock 2 (GOG) if anyone missed the sale promo.

      1. Yes, SS2 was free for 48 hours. It was also only redeemed through their Galaxy client to ensure a stress test on the servers. 🙂

          1. Have a GOG account? If not, make one and reply with your username and I’ll send you a key. 😉

          2. ZEROAX1S That’s my account. Don’t know if all caps is a stylistic thing or if I was stupid enough to actually do that.

    1. A demo of a game nowadays? Nice! A rare sight. And they’re doing this before the release! So it’s doubly cool.

      1. STOP SPOILING MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Expected though, supposedly to help the KS pitch and demos being a rarity.

    2. HBD buddy 😀 your giving gifts in your birthday ? you should receive one, tell me, what do you want ?

        1. I can give you that, use cheats, infinite money, influence points and one turn build and instant research, then attack all the cities and make puppets out of them, they will be yours and no one have to fight anymore then wait for a new game called BeyondEarth then get upset about it’s quality and kill everyone in Civ5 so no one can reach space and undo time.

          1. Yeah I’ve forgot about the way to solve humanity problems “no humanity=no problems” :))

        1. Heh, it never is. At least once you strike adulthood. Sigh. But yeah, cake’s always good! Unless you have dia-beetus. Now I’m being cynical.

  2. It looks perfect, it is exactly like the original, well with some different enemy and weapon placement to show off the demo. So 90s cyberpunk, they kept everything they did not remove anything.

Why does polygon get these exclusives with game footage when they cant play for sht is beyond me.

    1. their political correctness agenda gave them a strong footing in the industry probably. while they are biased toward anything related to political correctness, at least they don’t seem biased toward certain platforms unlike IGN or Gamespot.

in this case though i won’t be surprised if others have their own demos by now as well.

  3. Wow, this looks way better than I ever imagined it would. And the use of ambient sound is perfectly done.

  4. This makes me so excited for System Shock 3. OtherSide Entertainment (original creators of System Shock) + Night Dive Studios (Guys who know what they are doing) combo is pretty good. Was getting sick of mediocre Bioshock games, so called “spiritual successor to System Shock”.

  5. That’s awesome its just like the original game. I was just playing this (the original) two days ago off my GoG account. lol. Im gonna buy this day one of release.
