In February 2023, we shared a video from a fan remake of ARK: Survival Evolved in Unreal Engine 5. And a couple of days ago, Greg Coulthard shared a new video, showcasing what ARK: Survival Ascended may look like in Unreal Engine 5.
This latest video focuses on environments, so don’t expect any dinos to make an appearance. Greg used Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen and Nanite (even for grass) which ARK: Survival Ascended will also support. So, in theory, this is what the upcoming remaster of ARK: Survival Evolved will look like.
For those unaware, Greg has ported the original map of ARK: Survival Evolved in Unreal Engine 5. After doing so, the modder has been experimenting with some of UE5’s features. And, as you’ll see, the end result is actually great.
ARK: Survival Ascended will release in August 2023. As such, it will be interesting to compare it against this fan remake.
Lastly, I’ve also included an older video from this project that features some dinosaurs. Because, let’s be honest here, the biggest feature of ARK is its dinosaurs.
