Activision announced yesterday a remaster for the single-player campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This remaster is currently available on PS4, and will be coming to the PC on April 30th. Thus, YouTube’s ElAnalistaDeBits has shared a comparison video between this remaster and its original version.
This comparison video will give you an idea of the graphical enhancements of the remaster. We’ve seen some people claiming that the game looks exactly the same with the original. However, and as you will see, there are very noticeable graphical differences between them.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered features improved textures, animations, physical rendering, HDR lighting, and more. Now since this is a remaster, you should not be expecting a remake. There is a difference between a remake and a remaster.
Not only that, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered looks better than the PC version in 4K. I mean, there are new high quality textures, better particles effects, better color grading, and more detailed characters.
So yeah, for a remaster, COD: MW2 actually looks pretty good.

Remaster running on current gen engine with overhauled graphics looks better than 2009 console port on PC, shocking.
Seems obvious for some, but everytime there’s a video like this, there’s always people to say “original’s better” or something like that, so maybe that’s why this statement was done…
the only thing that is irking me is the lighting on the “training” FOB level. The OG has a better aesthetic, though the new is, im sure, more accurate
Commandos 2 HD, which has the german/japanese and nazi symbols flags removed, because yes, apparently you can be offended by a flag too…

Art style of the remaster is garbage. Also many dynamic objects are gone. No more sparks from the ceiling, wooden doors don’t swing open and closed in the wind any more. The ice wall looks like candy, no depth to it.
No doubt the remaster is technically more realistic but it fails to capture the feelings evoked by the original graphics. Ice that seems to have a dark core you can get a glimpse at is simply more interesting to look at, whether it’s realistic or not. Doors that swing in the wind are simply more interesting etc. The original game just looks INTERESTING and the remaster looks lifeless.

It’s called nostalgia, the more you go through life, and more the past seems better than present, stop trying to justifie everything, the remaster is doing everything better

How do you speak about “the feelings evoked by the original graphics” then ?? How do you know about this “feelings” while actually you never played it ?! Most people who played it found the remastered graphics superior, i know that the CoD community aren’t rocket scientists, but facts are facts, i don’t know if they failed in other things, but the graphics are superior in every way possible
How do I know what a cutscene in a video game evokes when I look at it? How does anybody else? By looking at it.
And nobody is disputing that the graphics are technically superior. I’m talking about art style.

I have to admit that if there’s no discount for people owning the original, so that’s not a good deal, and no MP on top of that… But man talking about graphics and only graphics, the remaster looks definitely better, the models are way better in definition, and both body and facial animations, textures are better and more bumpy/tessellated, lighting and backgrounds too, so are the shadows, particles and misc props, the art is slightly changed in some places but not downgraded.
The only thing i hated is the weapon sway, OG weapons don’t sway unless you sprint and i like it this way, but it’s only a personal preference

Don’t know where you got the idea that WW2 released after BO4.
WW2 was the last CoD on Steam.
And yes, it is confirmed that the game is always online on PC, it is stated in the requirements just as it was with MW2019.
No Battlenet games have been cracked or bypassed.
My bad, i seriously thought that BO4 was released before WWII HAHA Too many of them got me confused, anyway, i was not planning to buy it this year, i’ll wait for a big discount
Well it’s Activision, they aren’t known for discounts.
What I did was create a new Battlenet account set to Russia as my region, this makes it possible to buy their games with Russian prices, this allowed me to buy MW2019 for 25€ on launch. The MW2R is about 16€ with that method, not as much of a difference versus 25€ EU price.
They don’t have any sort of region/language lock.
I was thinking about buying it on a new account then chargeback after beating it.
Since the game is SP only but still uses online authentification, i will not be surprised if they use some drm mechanism to prevent this

Console version has an offline mode because it can’t be pirated.

It’s pretty much identical to console version besides higher res and framerate, that doesn’t magically make it look like a modern game.
And better texture filtering, but that’s all as you said, identical to console versions, an so will be this Remaster to the PS4/One counterpart, only Res, framerate and texture/shadow filtering
comparing the console version to the remaster is a big meh, but i think the biggest meh here is how they changed the assets, the iconic m4 is gone for a generic looking one.
There are videos comparing to the original running on PC in 4K, it barely makes a difference since it’s a straight port.

i see no reason of getting it if the only difference is graphics, when i can already play the game because i have the original… nothing new so why.
