UPDATE 2:

Activision has issued a press release for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered that can be read below.

“This year, we’re both honouring the heritage of  Call of Duty while taking players to incredible new heights,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a bold, new vision from the studio that created the original  Call of Duty  and  Modern Warfare,  and an adventure on an insanely epic scale that only  Call of Duty could deliver. And  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is one of the most beloved games of all-time, reborn for a new generation. We have lovingly remastered it with a whole new level of graphical fidelity and realism that wasn’t possible when the original was released. It’s going to be a great year for  Call of Duty players.”

“With  Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, we are taking  Call of Duty to places fans have never experienced in the series,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story that  Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans. This is a grand scale, old-school, all-out war in an epic new-school setting. And it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun.”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare puts storytelling front and center in a rich, immersive narrative. Infinity Ward breaks new ground by exploring the weight of leadership and its responsibilities. In a desperate time of overwhelming adversity, the player, as Captain of their own warship, must take command against a relentless enemy. Experienced soldiers are thrust into extraordinary circumstances that will test their training and reveal their true character as they learn to lead and to make the hard decisions necessary to achieve victory. The game also introduces stunning, never before seen environments, new weaponry and inventive player abilities to  Call of Duty. The entire campaign – from boots-on-ground combat to piloting high speed space-fighters – occurs as a near seamless experience with few visible loading times, and delivers the hallmark, blockbuster franchise moments that fans love.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered boasts vibrant current generation visuals, with fully improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles, revamped animation and audio, stunning sound and much more. Fans will relive the full, iconic campaign as they’re transported around the globe with Capt. Price, Gaz and Soap across all the missions from the original game, including “All Ghillied Up,” “Charlie Don’t Surf,” and “Crew Expendable.” Players will also experience the online multiplayer mode that redefined  Call of Duty by introducing killstreaks, XP, Prestige and more, and battle head-to-head in 10 fan-favorite maps from the original multiplayer mode, including classics such as “Crash,” “Backlot” and “Crossfire.”

“The original Modern Warfare raised the bar on video games and forever will be remembered as one of the best. It’s an honour to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans,” stated Brian Raffel, studio head of Raven Software.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is included with the following editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare:

  1. You know the industry is messed up when Call of Duty has space battles & Battlefront doesn’t.

  2. I care more about the CoD4 remastered, though that’s probably gonna just be a lazy console port with no modability to speak of anyways. Activision ruins everything they get their hands on.

  3. Looks good. I like part with space combat. But graphics is a little outdated. I think this is still DX11 game and can’t match new Battlefield 5 if EA add support for DX12 or Vulkan.

    1. Call of Duty’s Engine/s will never match Frostbite’s visual prowess without a complete reworking from the ground up, which Activision is unwilling to invest the necessary time & money into, even if Infinity Ward does add DX12 support. I wouldn’t bet on it though, not unless they do it for more Xbox performance.

They’ll never do it “just” for the PC, as Activision much prefers these far cheaper “marginal” upgrades year over year over year. Still, that new Lighting & Particle System does look decent, I’ll give them that.

      1. PS4 is the lead platform for CoD now since Sony got the marketing partnership so I would doubt DX12 is a priority for them

  4. “Leaked” you mean when they release it unofficially just to build hype and put gamers on spell of constantly pumping out trashy games..my2cent

  5. First thought was that Destiny is showing its influence on the FPS genre. Followed quickly by ZOMG space battles! Overall I’m cautiously optimistic though, will have to see how well the space battles turn out, and how well its integrated, whether its just a one off mission, or if they built it out as either a whole mode or integrated it with the ground warfare for some crazy multiplayer stuff. COD has never been known for vehicle combat so alot will depend on how playable and fun it actually is. I will give them props though, it seems that the 3 year development cycle has allowed them to break out of the iterative rut the series has been in since MW2.
Oah and remaster of MW looks fun but I wanna know how much more they are charging for this Legacy addition before praising them for adding a “free” game

  6. I’ve gotta admit, I vastly prefer the sci-fi era of COD we’re getting now. The whole ‘modern miltary’ thing just felt so unimaginative and overpatriotic. And while COD is COD, and it’ll probably have a ridiculously linear, spectacle-heavy campaign, I’d far rather have that served up with robots and lasers and space.

So yeah, I’m kinda looking forward to it.

  7. Spacebattles? you know what? i am interested, you did not see that one coming did you guys?

  8. Things I noticed:
See what looks like Atlas logos and color schemes. wonder if some type of continuation of Advanced Warfare.

You now have a pet robot instead of dog to tag along with you.

Destiny starting to creep into other Activision properties?

MW looks like much more than just retexture, saw physically based render, showing materials in more realistic manner

Remember when everyone was sick of WW II? Seemed to be the only settings for FPS for awhile. Now its ironic because seeing alot of calls to go back to it.

    1. Good question, though considering they handed it off to Raven Software, I think they’re actually invested into this one.

They know they can’t f*ck it up, or nobody from the to-this-day-very-large-still CoD 4 community will move to the Remaster IMO.

  9. Another crap of COD…

Another shi@ of space BS FPS.

Thank god we’re getting SHadow Warrior 2 this year.

  10. You seem to imply that there are only two brands of shooters out there.
I dislike both Battlefields and CoDs and still play shooters.

    1. You may think so, but for me Battlefields are too bullet-spongy (which is even more ludicrous on such big maps! (Did you hit a guy in throat from 600m, using a sniper rifle? Okay, he will move on and regenerate health in 10 seconds, because it wasn’t a headshot)), there are also some mechanics making the game more like a circus than real battlefield.

Spamming medkits and defibrillators that put Jesus to shame with all this ressurecting, spamming ammo boxes and subsequently grenades as well, being able to screw with physics by insta-switching vehicles like Rico Rodriguez…

It’s too much for me to bear. There’s too little fighting compared to stunts.

      1. Thanks for respecting my opinion.
As for those modes, I see where devs were going, but it seems very hard to do without reworking the whole game. No wonder that DICE didn’t want to put so much work into a mode that wouldn’t even be popular. Without additional work, they were only able to switch off some UI elements and shorten health bars. It makes it a bit closer to realism, but is still far away.

My gripes: those modes have way less players and they don’t remove ridiculous mechanics like insta-switching vehicles and being able to use (infinite!) parachutes when jumping from 10 m, or aforementioned supply box spam.
Also, a healthbar-based HP system can’t be as realistic as taking account of limbs and organs separately (but as I said, it wasn’t even remotely worthwhile for DICE which doesn’t care about realism).
No way of knowing your approximate ammo count seems stupid, too.

  11. So you are telling me New COD will have SPACE BATTLES while STAR WARS Battlefront still doesn’t have Space Battles… Thats Fukced UP 🙁

  12. Loads of fresh real 12 years olds with their parent’s credit cards around the world are gonna get hyped about another annual instalment of cod.
(Not to mention all those ostensible adults with mental age of 12 years olds.)

Smells fishy and looks like a cod cod.

But as a long-time sci-fi fan, I must say I’m a little less cynical about it than usually and there even may be a tiny spark of interest because of that setting.

Do you think they’ll ever give up using the COD brand or is this particular kind of fish gonna stay with us till the end of our civilization ie. a few decades at most?

    1. Industry’s already shifting, & if Overwatch is indeed “the next big thing” (I doubt it, but anyway), CoD will end up being a secondary IP, serving the desires of a much smaller fanbase that continues to desire its particular Gameplay style still, even if no longer in annual instalments.

Regardless of how the ridiculously over-hyped Overwatch ends up, the CoD Formula isn’t moving with the times as much as it needs to. Even Ass Crack took a year off to rethink itself over, as amazingly enough Ubisoft actually managed to realize that things are changing.

    1. Because 2011 was just riddled with such great games in the first place….

      Or even 2013, really.
