The Sims Project Rene

5 minutes of leaked gameplay footage from The Sims 5/Project Rene

In February 2023, we informed you about the leaked pre-release PC  and Android builds for The Sims 5 which is codenamed Project Rene.  And today, we finally have a gameplay video from it. This leaked video showcases five minutes of gameplay from its playtesting build.

Before continuing, know that this video is from the Android version. As we’ve mentioned, the PC leaked build is using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. As such, it’s almost impossible to run it. However, by using emulators, it’s way easier to run the leaked Android build.

In this video, we get to check out the whole city area that players got to test out. As we mentioned yesterday, this area was smaller than the complete map that will be in the final game.

Since this is a leaked video, I wouldn’t pay much attention to its graphics. Still, it can give you an idea of the game’s art style. So, if you are a fan of the series, you should definitely watch it.

The Sims 5 will be a free-to-play game. So, my guess is that EA will use Denuvo in order to “protect” its paid expansions and DLCs.

Back in November 2022, we got our first look at Project Rene via some pre-alpha off-camera leaked screenshots. That was one month after EA officially revealed The Sims 5. Codenamed Project Rene, this new The Sims game promises to stay true to what The Sims has always been. Additionally, it will push to evolve how those Sims think and behave.

There is currently no word on when Project Rene will come out. EA hasn’t even shared any official news or media for it since October 2022. Still, if I had to guess, I’d say we’re looking at a late 2024 or early 2025 release. Perhaps will find out more about The Sims 5 this Summer during EA’s Summer Showcase event.

Stay tuned for more!
