Here are 13 minutes of gameplay footage from the “H.R. Giger”-inspired game, SCORN

Gamespot has shared a new video, showcasing 13 minutes of brand new gameplay footage from SCORN. SCORN is a dark and grotesque horror-adventure game set within a bio-mechanical labyrinth. This narrative-driven FPS combines grotesque body-horror and action gameplay with the bizarre and nightmarish imagery from H.R. Giger’s work on the Alien franchise.

In the gameplay video, there’s a sense that Scorn aims to put players in a state of confusion. The imagery shown off in this video is extremely weird, but it’s still interesting – especially for fans for enjoyed the Alien series.

Additionally, the game draws upon the works of surrealist artist Zdzis?aw Beksi?ski. The result is something that is designed to put you in a constant state of discomfort but still leaves you eager to delve deeper into its world.

In SCORN, every location will contain its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world. Throughout the game players will open up new areas. Players will also acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to them.

Enjoy!

  1. when i saw that it looked and sounded amazing, then they failed to get the money for the kickstarter, so the music guy left and other people. Then when they revived it, it was more fleshy than usual, and the promise of large nonlinear areas was gone, they showed tight corridors and slow gameplay. Now the game is more fleshy and less alien than ever before with more linear corridors than ever before.

Not excited about it at all, looks meh.

    1. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with linear mate. The open-world hype in the last decade turned promising games into literal sh*t.

Can you imagine the first two Bioshock games as non-linear? What about the Metro series? Linear is good, as long as there is a proper narrative.

Studios who can’t into narrative just design stupid openworld games and spend truckload of money on marketing

      1. I dont need something to be open world but nonlinear like system shock 2 or dishonred or deus ex. Bioshock is nonlinear so is metro exodus, a bit.

  2. doesnt look like aliens though, it looks like dead space, meaning blood and flesh everywhere, where are the alien superstructures?

      1. well how about they show that off then.I challenge you to do watch the first and second trailer and now this.

  3. Necronomicon is work of H.P. Lovecraft. I just hope game has clear set goals since aesthetic is clearly there.

  4. Most generic shiet I’ve seen in a while.
It’s like an AI made all the work, cause there’s only one pattern for all of the scenarios.

    1. It looks like there is nothing there apart from the design which alone doesn’t make for a great game. Feels like a walking simulator without the sense of purpose.
