    1. i played risen 3 for 40 hours before finishing it and i am torn over it. The game looked nice, i like the world and the way the islands were made, i like Bones who is the first party member you meet, i like some of the dialogue, it’s funny and they curse a lot, the way you increase in power is nicely done and you can feel that you are becoming a bad a*s after you suck hard in the beginning but the ending is sh*t and leaves you wondering why exactly did you play that much. I felt like i did not get to use my full powers and that all the playing and upgrading my char was kinda pointless. But hey, it did get me for 40 hours so it must have done something good because i don;t waste time with sh*tty games.

  1. Weird that they would use a wolf with non-Physx hair for a screenshot. Looks…not so good, but maybe they’re trying to avoid false advertisement for AMD users?

    1. No, nvidia hair works works on AMD perfectly fine. I suspect these pictures are from the console version as they look inferior to the last screens in nearly every way.

Also, lol a NeoGat idiots thinking XB1 is the lead platform for this game. TW3 is a PC game to the core, console versions are gimped ports.

  2. Whoops. You’re totally right. Sorry, I had seen a couple articles on this site mentioning that it was “up to Nvidia” to allow AMD users to use their fur tech, but that was before they were updated with Nvidia’s comment that Witcher 3 wasn’t even using Physx for fur.

    1. Thats true. Fur is implemented using Hairworks modul which is developed under Direct Compute. So it shouldn’t be limited to NVIDIA GPUs.

    1. Well, it has to be. If CDPR rendered every blades of grass and leaves, then it will require a LOT of computing power especially for an open-world game 🙁

I just checked the first in-game trailer released and, no, they weren’t really rendered in the first place

      1. It’s a weak point of their game and i wonder why they highlight weak points with screenshots..

        1. I don’t think any dev of an open-world game will render every foliage so you can’t really call them “weak point” coz no one has done the opposite. I think we’re still far from having that kind of computing power or we already have but consoles are restricting the devs from doing so.

The only game I remember rendering foliage was Crysis 3 and Crytek can do it coz it’s not a big open-world like W3

Edit : remember how fur physx devoured the FPS when it was turned on and it was only with 1 wolf ? multiply that many fold and that’s how much power hungry the game will be if every foliage was rendered XD

    2. Cdprojekct red isnt in the business of downgrades. They are primarily a PC printed developer. These are most likely gimped console shots.

    1. Great. Now, I’m really worried.

I wonder they’ll announce the final or a surprise, extra hardware requirement for TW3 around December. Just in time for gamers to get some new cards for Christmas.

    2. It’s CDPR so no need to worry. Hmm … because it’s open-world and with how the textures look, I’m going to guess and say 3-4GB would be the max

      1. We could say easily by judging all games from consoles are using from 3GB up to 4GB of VRAM.

So its for those with no 4GB VRAM get new GPU because all next-gen games will use at-least 2.5GB!

          1. Even DeadRising used 2.5GB here at 1080p. So for next 7 to 9 years of current-gen will be a worthy getting a 4GB.

WatchDogs uses 3.4GB at ultra settings!

          2. Those games were crap ports though. I’m not going to upgrade my rig for those kind of games

  3. Are you really complaining now about the looks THIS game?! If you don’t like it try playing outside , maybe those graphics will be enough realistic for you….

      1. Finally you guys will experience the many many advantages that consoles will offer you over PC’s like……………………………. yeah I don’t think there are any, unless you count bratty 13 year old’s insulting you or your parents, which tbh is a really cool feature I mean that’s 1080p right?

  4. where are the furs ? 😀 i don’t care how much v-ram it requires, it deserve every single megabytes, but witcher 3 will shine one year after it’s release with a free enhanced edition update

  5. It’s not, it gets better and better as you go along. What is sh*t are the reviewers, some of them just can’t play PB games and are just crap at games in general.

    1. The Piranha Bytes that made G1, G2 and even R1 are long gone and reviewers in general were never particularly fond of their games.
You may like R3 and that’s fine but it’s undeniable that every game they release, it gets worse.

      1. Risen 3 is a lot better than Risen 2, in every way. Also, as much as I like Gothic 3, it was in a terrible state on release and never fully fixed and optimised.

  6. Those grass textures look like sh*t. Every gameplay video I have seen of this game, grass textures stick out like a sore.. grass texture. Actually the problem is the awful terrain editing. Nobody bothered to paint the areas under grassy areas with proper textures (and I think they said it isn’t random so it’s the fault of level designer here).

  7. Cringing at people denying in the downgrade and assuming this is a console version. This is Crysis 2 all over again. Former PC exclusive dev goes full-console and the fans can’t admit it until it’s too late. Honestly, I don’t even care about Witcher, I just worry about Cyberpunk.

  8. My guess is they are still optimizing & implementing the nVidia fur tech. It was not very easy to see but It did appear the wolves in the 35 min. demo had some level of the tech in place.
This is CDPR here, let’s give them the benefit of the doubt folks. Not that I’m encouraging or saying it will happen – Worst case scenario any visual issues/shortcomings (bugs/problems in general) will be patched and worked on post-launch. CDPR have great post-launch support.
