Modders Albert and Chris are currently working on a HD Texture Pack project for Resident Evil 4. Chris has released a new comparison between the game’s vanilla and the modded version, showing the spectacular improvements this duo has achieved so far. Resident Evil 4 will look awesome when this mod hits the Internet, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Enjoy!

holy cow!
hope it comes out soon enough. with RE Zero Remaster coming out would be nice to also replay RE4
I wonder if they’ll add higher resolution textures characters and weapons, would be very nice.
This is what freaking Capcom should have done with their so-called “HD” version.
I see this comment every time the above project gets any updates,
yeah well cause they should have…
Yeah, Capcom should have spent a shitload of money and time to completely remake every bit of texture of a 10 year old game in high definition, that’s probably not even going to sell enough to repay Capcom the costs necessary.
that’s just an excuse. If you’re gonna do something, do it properly… don’t half ar#e it. If they had properly paid attention to these things they could’ve better promoted their game and people would be more inclined to buy it.
Not affording to waste money and time to work on a 10 year old title that is way past its relevance in the market is not an excuse, it’s an actual issue, especially considering how financially broken Capcom almost is.
Companies exist to get money, they can’t go around spending tons of cash and wasting lots of time just to make what is right. As a company, it’s their job to spend the least possible and get the most profit out of it, so they can stay on the market. They make what they have to in order keep business going without a hitch, not what is the right thing to do. It’s not nice, but that’s how things are.
Remember The Witcher 3? One of the reasons why the game looks nowhere near as good as it was, is because CDPR couldn’t afford to make such a game, especially on PC, it would be too expensive and it would blow their already low budget of 15 millions dollars, they did what they had to, not what was right, which would be releasing the product in the state they promissed, and not an inferior version.
I understand, and what you’re saying is absolutely true. However in this case I’m talking about the texture work rather than the overall graphical engineering like Witcher 3. Capcom should have focused on the textures for the game a bit more. Especially since the intent of the product in question was to provide for an updated experience to an already available title.
Unlike Witcher 3, the game wasn’t heavily built from ground up. The resources for Witcher 3 went from everything to modelling, programming, graphical engineering, animation, voice acting and so many more aspects that are crucial to delivering a solidly built game.
It is for that reason that I think comparing the touch up of an old game to the conception of a brand new one is rather unfair. Capcom didn’t have to factor in those aspects and thus didn’t have to spend any budget for it.
Capcom should have worked more on the hd version but unfortunately, didn’t. It is for that reason, compared to the immensely detailed work these guys are doing, their work for most part was inadequate.
Basically overall put, RE4 HD’s budget shouldn’t be compared to that of a brand new game which undoubtedly required a hefty budget. RE4’s sole intent was to provide for an updated experience which it unfortunately did not fully achieve. It wouldn’t have cost as much as a new triple A game.
Wow! Now they only need to update the geometry. Easier said than done, of course.
This is amazing work especially the painting! I just laughed at the horrible vanilla textures.
Bloody Capcom should feel ashamed.
And these two should get a prize. Marvellous work!
Makes you wonder if we love the games more then they do.
Only thing they love is money.
I’m so sorry, but someone has to say this every time: looks the same to me, no visual difference. Ha, man, that one never gets old!
Anyway, as a texture artist myself, I love the work these guys are doing. I sort of feel they are spending way too much time on a very old game when their skills would be better used elsewhere, but awesome work regardless!
Resident evil 4 was one of my favorite games ever made i bought it for the gamecube, wii, first edition horrible pc copy and then the steam copy.
Most i ever spent on one game. To me its also my favorite resident evil game.
Why is David Bowie in it?
Incredible indeed!
i contact them sometimes, they say they will do a complete Retexure on all the game assets.
that include:
_enviroment
_characters
_objects
_weapons
_mercenaries
_ada report
everything.
they will do not:
_replace characters for higher polygons versions
not using the same photo textures that capcom took on spain.
(This guys walk around spain looking for the same textures capcom used, so they can mantain the same design and mod.)
_replace the low quality movies.
_ading shadows where wont.
fixing:
besides they are refixing all bad geometri of the game, like bad polygons on walls or furniture.
plus they are ading some new specular shyny effects on columns and
metal objects , giving more material variation to the objects of the
surroundings.
You can cheq this and more on
http://www.re4hd.com/
and give them a donation to them to make the project end more fast!
Capcom should engage this 2 guys because they deserve it!
