Quantum Break has just been released on the PC, and below you can find some comparison screenshots between the game’s Ultra and Low settings. Contrary to other titles, there is a huge difference between these two presets (especially regarding Textures). Ultra screenshots are on the left, whereas Low screenshots are on the right. Enjoy and stay tuned for our PC Performance Analysis!

No steam, no sale!
Gog would be fine too.
Origin would be a better deal than windows store…
I hate windows store that much. anything but windows store… I’ll even buy it on Humble Store.
Humble Store is mostly just Steam keys (with a few exceptions).
Origin would be tons and tons better. Not only does it work, but the service is ok as well.
you’re right, at least origin folder aren’t inaccessible to the users (even administrators) and you can resume a download from an archived version of your games files…
Not only that, but I can start download on one pc, copy the files halfway, bring the files to another pc and continue download from there. Since my Internet is terrible, I’ve downloaded some games through origin at work, then just copied the files to my portable hdd.
Once I’ve pasted it back in the right folder on my home pc, and I start the download again, it goes through my file and only downloads the necessary files required. Most of the time it’s good to go without any further download.
I can do this with uplay as well! Can’t so well with steam and have to finish a download then make a backup. So basically I’m stuck downloading on my pc.
The benefit for the others is that I can download an unlocked copy from any torrent site part by part on my phone, then just paste it over since my phone Internet is quite good. But steam doesn’t let you blatantly copy files. Not sure if windows store would let me do that.
Really? Games without Steam:
Windows Store Exclusives:
– Quantum Break
– Killer Instinct
– Forza Motorsport 6 Apex
– Forza Horizon 3
– Gears of War Ultimate
– Gears of War 4
– ReCore
– Sea of Thevies
– Scalebound
– …
GOG Galaxy Exclusives
– Witcher 3
UPlay Exclusives
– all Ubisoft games
Origin Exclusives
– all EA games
If you play only on Steam then you can’t play many good games. I really liked Witcher 3 on GOG Galaxy
The Witcher 3 is on Steam. That said, I do like GOG’s business model better.
So, nine games and most of these games haven’t been released yet?
actually I was referring as Steam as a general store, I use Origin, Uplay and GoG and even the one I can’t remember bounded with Unreal engine. But If you ask me if I want to buy games on windows store, where I have to pay full prices for old games, like Gears of War Ultimate @ 25€, when it’s a 10/15€ game since is a cheap remake, no thanks. Ofc if the price dropps I might change my mind but ATM I’d rather not play than support an Idea I don’t agree with
It looks good in some places i can say 🙂
This is why I’d rather have waited for a port. We got Alan Wake over 2 years after the 360 release, but it meant that Microsoft really didn’t care about dictating what Remedy could do. They really took their time with that port and totally overhauled everything from the console version, and we even got a DRM free release on GOG. Now we get a clearly rushed port with some of the most f*cking awful DRM we’ve seen in years.
Playing on a 980 ti and I’m getting pretty bad frame rates even when playing on High, rather than Ultra (although only a few settings come with the Ultra option). The game looks pretty good, but not jaw-droppingly so, and its performance definitely isn’t on par with its visuals.
Aside from that and a bunch of bugs, the game isn’t very fun to begin with. Would not recommend anyone to buy it, even if you are a huge fan of Max Payne and Alan Wake, like me.
This really pisses me off. I’m playing this game and its actually really cool, a time travel yarn that at least grounds itself speculative science. The effects are great to see in action and the character models look really good. But all of that doesn’t mean much, because its platform restricted and the platform they are restricting it too has serious problems. No exclusive fullscreen, no gsync support, no multi gpu support, badly setup gpu options and no freaking quit button??
Trust me there’s a great game, its just buried under a pile of bad choices, and it will fail to sale on pc because of this.
On to some practical information, currently playing this and have tweaked it to run smoothly on my system, basically I started it at 720p with all options turned to thier lowest, and incrementally turned things up/on until I got to the point where framerate starting dropping too much, then backed off. I ended up at 1080p with shadow resolution set to med, volumetric lighting set to high, and texture res set to med, all other things at max.
Thats my particular sweet spot.
Rig details (only the ones that matter :/)
sli 980’s
i5 4690k
16gb mem
lol ur PC is a freaking beast and can’t max this game, just lol.
Its a terribly optimized port with some poor/extrememely blurry textures!
Check this out:

All that money and power in that rig just wasted…. Well, that’s the bane of PC gaming at times. Might as well be a straight XBOX 1 port being emulated on the PC via software. So bad…
Haha, I don’t consider is wasted since I didn’t build it specifically to play QB, but I get your point. Oah well there’s still Dark Souls 3 on the horizon and the Vive once they finally get around to shipping it
I am getting 50-60 fps at 3200×1800, Max settings, No AA. Its looks amazing and runs much better then I was led to believe.
My PC:
i7-4790k at 4.8GHz
Overclocked GTX 980 Ti
32 Gb RAM
textures look poor even at 1440P… Game can’t hold 60 fps at 1080P while looking like the Xbox1 version…
Lots of unnecessary post-processing in the game and the RAM and VRAM is probably being filled with Geometry Detail instead of Ultra High Res textures that this game deserves. But still a sharpening setting in-game would have helped this game tremendously. I am playing it on my TV instead of my monitor because my TV has a lot of sharpening options compared to my monitor.
SweetFX/ReShade would have made a huge difference in this game.
Game takes a 4th Gen I7 with a 980 TI just to play at 1080P and still dips below 60 fps with xbox1 looking visuals other then slight lighting and shadows.
garbage optimization period. Makes Batman arkham knight look good given the fact that it is from a company that is known to make good games on PC.
Can you judge games without comparisons pc vs consoles or its impossible for you? Pc gamers like you dont deserve games MS wants to offer them. They are worst part of gamers community. Play x-com 2 instead.
Console gamers like you don’t deserve anything, because you are such an ungrateful child who whines at other groups and has to ebrate them to make yourself feel better.
Hey guys, did some testing and have managed to get 1440p running smooth. Srry for the long post but hope it helps some people –
Ok so after spending some time tweaking the settings and testing things out I’ve found a happy medium and hope this helps.
First off, this is the first UWP game I’ve had that actually shows up in Nvidia Experience, I went with the recommended settings and have managed to get smooth gameplay at my native resolution. So be sure to scan your game library and check there first.
on my Sli 980s (but only using 1 because still no multi gpu support for UWP yet)
Here is what Nv Experience Reccomends:
Anti-aliasing: Off
Display Mode: Fullscreen
Effects Quality: High
Global Illumination Quality: Medium
Lock 30fps: Off
Resolution: 2560x1440p
SSAO: On
Screen Space Reflections: Medium
Shadow Filtering: High
Shadow Resolution: Medium
Texture Resolution: Medium
Volumetric Lighting: Medium
This worked for me plays smooth and looks decent. A couple of things that will give you big problems
Gsync: Disable it, it absolutely tanks the fps in this game.
Fullscreen: Significant performance increase by running in fullscreen. Currently the game doesn’t have a quit option, you have to click the “x” at the upper right hand corner to exit.
***This drops the game into borderless window mode, and the next time you restart it, it will be in borderless window mode. It will look like fullscreen but it isnt and gives a significant hit to performance***
This is important to note, because whether via Nv Experience or in game options you will need to set it back to full screen to avoid a performance hit EACH TIME YOU LAUNCH THE GAME!
But now like I said with those caveats I’ve gotten running smooth on 1 980, and despite the port problems its a fun game, esp if you liked Alan Wake. So be sure to check your nv experience before playing next time and lets hope they fix these issues soon (no quit option srlsy wtf!) but in the meantime gonna enjoy it as something to do till DS3 drops
