4Gamer has published some new screenshots from Final Fantasy XV. What’s really interesting here is that these shots are said to be from the PC dev build of the game. In other words, they do no represent the quality of the console versions, and could very well give you a glimpse at what the rumoured PC version could look like. For what is worth, Square Enix will look into bringing Final Fantasy XV on the PC after the console release. Until then, enjoy the following screenshots!

This doesn’t make sense. The dev build, while being built on PC, should have similar quality to one of the console versions while developing a game with no confirmed PC release. If any of you have tried out one of the demos for ffxv, it looks almost exactly like the screenshots. Maybe even slightly better texture quality wise and with slightly less aliasing. However, the lighting in these screenshots does seem to be somewhat different.

Not necessarily. Those screenshots ARE the console build. simply running on PC. I’ve only been in the industry for 4 years, but I have some idea of what I’m talking about.
Yea. These screenshots look pretty bad and I am pretty sure this is just higher resolution console build. And even for a console these graphics are just no-no. Looks like an MMO.
Thank you. I checked the ps4 build out again. The texture resolution is higher than these screenshots. And the neo build should improve things on the aliasing and lighting side. Possibility this is the start of the neo build (hint hint) Totally not using connections to get information.

Gameplay looks okay. I don’t think I could stomach playing as a bunch of K-pop-looking poofsters for the duration of the entire game though.
Hopefully we can mod that sh*t out of the game.

Kind of. It’s why I’m not typically a fan of Japanese games. Classic NES/SNES era Japanese games were awesome, but all of this JRPG cr@p is insufferable tripe.
Our hero is a prince from a kingdom that harbors a magical crystal. An evil expansionist empire with a vast fleet of airships seeks to destroy this kingdom so it can take the crystal for it’s own use, so our heroes go on a long and epic journey to get it back. Drama happens along the way.
Call me crazy, but this insufferable tripe sounds awfully similar to the stuff we used to play during the NES/SNES era.
This just reminds me of the current early access Ark game in terms of visuals. The game for being SP only still gives off that dated look along with still poor looking AA as with most console games and PC ports these days.
I can imagine SE pulling a R* and not saying anything until 2 more years from now where they announce a PC port with slightly better visuals a la GTA V style while charging max price and shoving in some very resource intense options that hardly change much but otherwise lock away settings until 5 more years pass and you have a new GPU than can “unlock” those features, basically meaning you shouldn’t be able to play the game as it is until 7 years down the road, something which I dislike about some devs doing to PC ports.

Low – PSP Settings
Medium – PS2 Settings
High – 18k down sampled resolution… f’ all you PC users.

Am I the only one who feels the graphics look like they belong in an MMO. The world is just bland and detail-less, the grass is just sad, the terrain everything just so balnd. The texture quality is meh, and I am not even sure if there is anyform of AA or AF. Its like someone’s playing with everything turned down to low.

No Antialaysing, no ambient occlusion, textures look poorly, absolutely no depth of field, only draw distance is bigger. Square… please do it better graphics with AMD we dont wanna buy 600$ GPU to run it in FullHD only.
