When RAGE was released, a lot of gamers criticized its engine, id Tech 5, as it was plagued with… well, a lot of issues. But what if id Software’s shooter was powered by a different engine? Well, Polycount’s member ‘AkiRa’ (Sebastian Schulz) is currently working on a scene from RAGE in Unreal Engine 4. While this is still a WIP project, you can view the latest screenshots from that map below. Enjoy!

Looks Neat. UE4 is one powerful engine.
(Also testing because disqus is acting up today and wont post my comments)
I like these cross-engine experiments. If nothing else it shows us how talented some people are.
Looks pretty good although I wish the image was a higher res.
I really liked RAGE coz of it’s body part bullet impact tech. If only they refined the other aspects of the game, I’m pretty sure it would have been a hit
“body part bullet impact tech”
The sad thing about that is that it isn’t a question of tech. It’s not something hard to do. Brutal Doom has that, Goldeneye on the N64 had that. Every game could and should have that but they don’t because devs are lazy bastards and corporate suits don’t want hard R-ratings.
First Person Shooters have stagnated so hard ever since the genre mutated into “mainstream army simulator” instead of being horror and action flick inspired sadistic fun.
Seriously?! I thought it was hard to implement that’s why the only game I know that has it is RAGE
Best thing about it will be that it won’t have those shitty pop-ins other id tech games have. I absolutely loved Wolfenstein: The New Order, the story was well-paced. Gunplay was amazing. It was satisfying killing Nazis, with that right amount of gore they put in. But the annoying pop-ins made the game an inch of receiving a perfect 10/10 from me. The low-resolution textures were negligible, the pop-ins weren’t.
Yeah, I have had a lot of texture pop-in, in Wolfenstein new order, though UE3 had it’s moments with the pop-in also. I have no idea though about UE4 and if there is texture pop-in
No link this time? O.o
Oh my……
My favorite Engines were Cryengine 3 and Frostbite 3… but Now unreal Engine 4!
