Unreal Engine 4 member ‘captain_slow48‘ has recreated the first level from id Software’s classic shooter, Doom, in Unreal Engine 4. Captain_slow48 tried to be as faithful to the original aesthetic as possible while adding some more details to the scene, and the end result is pretty amazing. Here is hoping that id Software will include a hidden room based on this iconic map in its upcoming DOOM game. Enjoy!

Look way better than the new DOOM!!!! I want to play it now!!!!!
Sorry but no, this is extremely amateurish.
Bloom is way, way overdone. That first screenshot nearly blinded me. Otherwise looks cool.
That’s not bloom you’re seeing. It’s depth of field with bokeh.
He’s talking about the over glowing lighting, which I agree, it’s totally armature of course and you can tell.
armature = amateur ?
The bloom is strong with this one.
This is something I wish Bethesda/ID would do, take the next gen doom engine and just redo the entire Doom1 and Doom2 levels, or make it possible to mod it and do exactly that. Id gladly buy Doom 1 and Doom2 in a modern engine but with the same layouts, that would be awesome.
It has that whole “UE4 tech demo” feel to it, where someone just took some preset lighting settings and slapped them on a new level. Visual design is far more important than just slapping on pretty lighting effects.
Looks like a shooter from 1995.
Great work…
Using unreal to play a doom level that’s just pathetic at least use a Tech Engine this is crap.
