A few hours ago, Square Enix revealed that Project Athia will be now called Forspoken. Forspoken is the first game from Square Enix’s Luminous Productions that will be coming to PC in 2022. And, below, you can find its first official screenshots.
In this game you will play as Frey Holland; an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in the fantastical yet dangerous land of Athia. Frey takes center stage in Forspoken, exploring an unknown world and facing treacherous trials to unravel the mystery behind Athia.
According to the press release, Luminous Productions is developing this game simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC. The game also targets a 2022 release date.
Lastly, Ella Balinska (from Charlie’s Angels) will be playing the lead character Frey Holland.

But all of a sudden you put a non-white in a game its game over. This world has a disease & it’s people.
We’ve played GTA SA, GTA VCS, True Crime NYC, Mirror’s Edge etc. fine. It’s not about who they put but how and when they put.
When they make black character just to ‘teach about racism” (Mafia 3) then the game is woke s**t.
Given the current state of Square Enix with their “ethics departments”, no wonder people expect the worst from this.

The only reason I am complaining about it is because we know they didn’t add her because of the story, but for virtue signal. Or at least it feels like that. I’m looking forward to be proven wrong on that sentiment though.
It didn’t feel “natural” like Alyx, from Half-life. I can’t quite point a finger exactly where in this game is giving me this vibe, but it is. My favorite GTA game is San Andreas, and you play as a black dude throughout it. It felt natural to play it, the character and the story matched well. But with Square Enix, and the woke stuff they peddle, plus the weird vibes this game is giving, it just doesn’t feel natural.
Like I said, I am looking forward to be proven wrong. Because the game does look good.

I know & understand what you’re saying, but I hate to break it to you dude, that which you are bothered by has been done since the beginning of time. Ask yourself this why have all of the games that have been created by japanese developers had white dudes and chicks at the helm for decades? Think about it, they are Japanese devs and chris redfield, jill, claire, Leon, Dante & Nero, just to name a few have always been WHITE.
That is the same foolishness that you see now, only difference is the shoe is now on the other foot. You never asked yourself, why have a japanese company make all their games with white people in them instead of japs? because they know it wouldn’t sell to the audience that they want to sell to. Because we know, and it doesn’t feel organic, the choice of the character is to appease the demographic that barely buys games. If they had released this a few years ago, like 2013 or something, one could claim organic inclusion. Like Alyx. But with life is strange, the constant butthurtness over having HUWYTE MAILS on any game, we know this wasn’t organic, or at least it doesn’t feel organic.
At least the actress they chose is hot, she just shouldn’t open her mouth though.
And in 2022 it will be 7 (!) years since Witcher 3 released that even though it doesn’t have the best graphics ever it would still look on par with Forspoken.
