Assassins Creed Valhalla screenshots-5

First official in-engine screenshots released for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Alongside the CG trailer, Ubisoft has also released the first official in-engine screenshots for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Do note that these first screenshots are from an early build and do not represent the quality of the final game. Still, they will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release on both current and next gen systems. Now I’m pretty sure that a lot of gamers will be wondering whether the next-gen version will look significantly better than the current-gen version. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has not clarified whether these screenshots are from the current-gen or the next-gen version. Thus, we’ll have to wait until Sony or Microsoft release a gameplay video (or screenshots) from the next-generation version.

We also don’t know whether the PC version will be based on the current or the next-gen version. Ubisoft has also not commented on whether the game will take advantage of real-time ray tracing effects.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will invite players to live the saga of Eivor; a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory. The game brings players to a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. Furthermore, players can take advantage of new features, including raids, growing their settlement, building their power and expanding their influence.

The game will release in Holiday 2020 on Epic Games Store and UPLAY.

Enjoy!

    1. This is a game that will be available on current gen and next gen so dont expect a huge leap in visual fidelity

Just like the original watch dog

      1. Not talking about gameplay, as we only have 5 screenshots, but for a game advertised for Xbox Series X, the character models and environment looks more like a reskinned Odyssey.

        1. Series X isn’t the focus right now, nor will it ever be. The weakest link always dictates what the game will look like, and with MS determined the keep the XB1 S on the market, they’ll be holding us all back for a few years at least.

  1. Another reskin. But i like the setting, let’s see if they add something to the gameplay to make it worth a try.

    1. Really? They look identical to Odyssey’s real in-game quality. There’s nothing special about these screenshots.

        1. That was Odyssey… It uses incredibly aggressive anti-aliasing that blurs the image badly. Look at the image with the ship in the foreground and the castle on the top of the cliff in the distance – That’s exactly what Odyssey looks like in-game, no bullshot there. Now, some of the others look a little crisper like the textures were specially made or fixed for the image, but overall, these don’t look like bullshots to me at all.

    2. Those have very average image quality. There’s nothing special about them that suggests they’re bullshots.

  2. So mini-games are back, homestead is back. Stealth has some mud, snow stuff like SOTR. Decapitation. Also, they got the Revelations & Black Flag writer. Looking forward to the game.

    1. I think they may be on to something here. The last two, despite a lot of repetition, were pretty enjoyable. If they keep improving upon that I think it will be alright. To me, these are great “I don’t have anything else to play” games. They’re not my first choice, but they provide entertainment.

  3. I knew this was going to be a reskin of Odyssey, but I didn’t expect to be visually THIS close. They didn’t change a damn asset environment wise…. It’s all the same from Odyssey. Water, wood textures, stone textures, volumetric clouds and lighting, the rocky cliffsides in he distance, vegetation….

Consider me disappointed, despite having low expectations to begin with. They’ve also got a raven to replace the eagle, and Norse mythology to “explain” all of the ridiculous divine powers and fighting abilities. This is supposed to be the better “year off” game but it looks like the AC team took a year vacation during their one year break if all the could do was drop in Viking characters and outfits into Odyssey in all this time.

    1. that ‘year off’ is additional time taken to figure out how to tastefully incorporate microtransactions into the game. what ? were you really expecting an upgrade?

      1. Not really… I’d love to love AC again, but I’ve had to accept it’s a different franchise now and what I once knew is gone apart from replaying the old ones. I’ll play this game, but I won’t consider it an “AC” game, nor did I do so with Odyssey

  4. sad thing is that it’s not anything particularly amazing but i’m sure they’ll downgrade even this. mark my words.

    1. AC franchise have been chasing the Witcher 3 since 2015, still haven’t catch up to it as yet. Cause everything you do in the Witcher matters. Ubisoft Games does not respect your time.

      1. Ubisoft is the type of developer who builds a sandbox but with no sand

          1. That was the nicest comment I have ever got on this site

  5. if there is anything worse then running/riding a horse across vast spaces of land… it’s riding a boat across vast spaces of empty water. this game looks like it uses a boat for that. really really not impressed so far. BARF!!!

  6. I quite enjoyed Origins hated Odyssey apart from Atlantis so no doubt I’ll still get this at some point. I wish we could get a sequel to Unity instead though with that older gameplay.

    1. I liked Origins but couldn’t stand Odyssey, I dropped the game as I discovered Atlantis. It felt like if I had wasted my time doing boring fetch quests to level up only to find out that the game was finally starting.

  7. It’s insulting how Ubisoft expect us to preorder some golden edition of a game, based on 4min of Cinematic CGI Trailer, trailers are BS, show me the gameplay.
Tho knowing it’s ubisoft, this game is just another garbage

  8. I hope it’s not going to be as sprawling as Odyssey. I’ve reached Argolis and I’m already tired of it. There are too many meaningless locations without much to do. Side quests are as generic as they can get. Can’t even get close to The Witcher 3 in that regard.

    1. witcher 3 is the same. look at the achievements for that game. like 30% of people on steam have beaten the witcher 3. it has an amazing story but holy f*k what a slog of a game

          1. Go to a doctor please and check your mental health . Too much gaming.

          2. “hey i want norse mythology”

HUR DUR HAVE YOU TRIED SKYRIM THAT IS MOSTLY ELDER OF SCROLLS LORE

            IDIOT.

    1. But Odyssey could look pretty amazing at times. I’m not sure what you’re complaining about. I can’t think of an open world game that looks better.

        1. O.K. Other games look good too. What is your point exactly?
You expect every game to be the best looking game? That doesn’t make any sense.

          1. “I can’t think of an open world game that looks better.”
your words not mine, just trying to jog your memory here

          2. I don’t think any of those look better, except perhaps RDR2, but that game renders soooo blurry…

          3. I never quite got it why RDR is supposed to look so good. I don’t find it even particularly good looking on my PC, and most of its fans seem to be console jockeys that don’t get all the details.

  9. Yes, I’m so excited… I’ve been waiting for this news all year. Who’s ready for 50 layers of DRM? I for1 can’t fuqin wait. So pumped, amirite guys?…

      1. Games have been using the same graphics engines for like 40 years now. But “lawl 60 dollars for a skin eheheh”. Just stop it.

    1. I like playing as women.
But if you’d rather look at a dude’s butt jiggle for 40 hours that’s all you.

  10. this title..looks like stupid disgusting amounts of awesome ridiculous TITTIES…i admit I was afraid they’d go all woke…but …if what they’re putting out is what we get?…sign me right the hell up, twice.

  11. Hope UbiSoft have dropped DX11 and for that matter don’t pursue DX12 for future tiles, and stick to Vulkan.

  12. I enjoyed Odyssey for its interesting setting with the open world settng and naval warfare etc. This however is most likely going to be a reskin of sorts, and even after enjoying most of Odyssey I grew tired of the repetitive nature of many of the fetch quests and “exploration” mechanics which just tired the hell out of me. If we are just going to swap spartans with vikings in this one I am just going to give it hard pass.

  13. This is ubisoft we’re talking about, game will look half as good as this i can guarantee you that
