Agony is a first-person survival horror set in hell that has just been released. Maximum Games has provided us with a review code so we’ve decided to capture some 4K screenshots and share them with you (which are safe for work).
As always, we’ve included the MSI Afterburner so it can give you a small idea of how this new title runs in 4K on the PC. In order to capture these screenshots, we used an NVIDIA GTX980Ti and performs appears to be fine. The minimum framerate we witnessed was 31fps and the maximum was 62fps.
We’ll talk more about the game’s performance in our upcoming PC Performance Analysis so stay tuned for more. Until then, enjoy the following screenshots!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Probably even 8k won’t help much..
The higher the res the more it brings out the textures making them look muddy. Unless the textures are made for higher resolutions it’s just like playing a nes / snes on a 1080P TV bringing out all those pixels next to them looking smooth on a old 4:3 Tube TV.
LOL, absolutely true bro!
I don’t understand why some people are so obsessed with resolution and turn a blind eye to blocky models and muddy textures.
Maybe it has something to do with marketing? “4K” is a handy phrase, so it’s easy to hail it as the solution to all problems, and then throw it around mindlessly. I’m talking about the consoles, of course. Sony and Microsoft do everything to make the customers perceive their creations as “4K consoles”, even though they can barely pull off rendering games at this resolution.
It’s so dark I can’t see anything. Bumping up gamma helps but washing out colors.
I think that the idea with this dark was that You will need to rely on environment sounds. When You do crank up gamma way up You don’t need torch any more and this kind of breaks game play for this kind of monsters that will attack You faster when You do hold torch.
Also I don’t know if it’s me (was playing at night) or game internally adjusts lightning for places without light source or It was because I did possessed different body but environment was brighter and easily visible.
so is this game as awesome as everyone thought it would be….for some weird reason, or its a subpar walking sim, like i thought it would be?
Well it has 38 on metacritic right now. So it’s a subpar walking sim.
DAMN!!!!
I’m playing this with PS4 Pro but everything looks RED upon RED upon RED. I can’t figure out different objects and things in surroundings since its all red. I’ve seen photos of Agony and everytime they look nice and with other colours than red and blood. Should it be like that?
