PC_Focus has shared some screenshots and a video from an upcoming RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for GTA: Vice City. This mod hasn’t been released yet to the public but as you’ll see, it already greatly improves the game’s graphics.
Now as with all of the RTX Remix Mods we’ve shared these past few days, these screenshots are not from the upcoming Open Beta Build of NVIDIA RTX Remix. In other words, they are based on the NVIDIA RTX Remix Runtime that came out last year. So, in theory, this mod will look even better once NVIDIA launches the Open Beta phase of RTX Remix. That is of course if its creator, jewgibor, will keep working on it.
Taking a look at the screenshots and video, we can immediately notice the improved lighting effects. You can also notice more accurate shadows and better AO effects. However, the assets seem similar to those of the original version. I mean, look at the grass at 0:41. It looks so low-res. You can also spot shadows forming in the distance. My guess is that the BVH for Path Tracing is a bit limited.
Anyway, for a WIP project, this RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod looks great. And yes, I’d love to play this classic GTA with this mod. In theory, we should get one soon. On January 22nd, modders will gain access to the full set of NVIDIA RTX Remix. So, we can expect some incredible mods in the coming months.
And I get it. Some may not like the way some of these Path Tracing Mods look like. Understand that these are free mods. So, if you don’t like them, you can simply skip them. It’s that simple.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. A couple of days ago, we shared some incredible RTX Remix screenshots for the first Tomb Raider game. Modders have also released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. And then we have these Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, Half-Life and Serious Sam.
Have fun and stay tuned for more!

are we gonna see games like portal rtx or quake rtx .can we expect that quality from this new version of rtx remix?im so excitedd
Depends on the work that modders will put into them. In theory, yes. The Open Beta (which will launch on January 22nd) will allow modders to create mods similar to Quake 2 RTX and Portal RTX.
This is more true to the source remaster than the one made by rockstar
I can’t see Tommy Vercetti, who is the main part of the game. Just like the rest of the ray tracing fad this is an easy skip for me.
Meh, still looks like a PS2 game.
if only ps2 games had these kind of lighting shadows and shaders.

If we dont like them it doesn’t mean don’t want them to be better, free of charge doesn’t mean free of criticism. Constructive critics can push things forward positively, thanks to some “whiny little brats” as you call them your car has a suspension now, because while most people were happy driving their cars and destroying their bones on every bump, the whiny little brats complained about it and the suspension system was made
That’s a good point of view, but what do you accomplish complaining to the messenger? John is just giving you the info.
If the complains were made as a constructive criticism to improve the quality of the mod, they should go somewhere where the modder will see it. I don’t think the people that got us the suspension system complained at church or the press, more probably they used letters to manufacturers as the main way.
If the complain never reach the responsible person is just a tantrum that you don’t even care about.
Modders come here to the comment sections of DSOG sometimes, and an opinion is an opinion, that’s why this site has a comment section isn’t it ? And that’s why most of its users vote for total free speech every year
Of course, an opinion is an opinion but don’t treat it like it’s going to change anything or like an argument to change how and what is posted here, John will keep posting whatever He wants because it’s what he has been doing for a decade and it’s why a lot of people is here.
And people will keep commenting because he gave them that freedom, i don’t get your point
Complaining about the quality of RTX remix mods like if that is going to change what is posted on the site is a non sense to me, exactly the same happens when he writes something about an UE5 project he likes. Skipping content you have no interest in is also an option.
If you like the skip option you’re free to use it, i like the other option sir
Have fun with the autistic screeching option, sir.
Funny that you could also just skip my comments but you choose the autistic screeching too
You can call exposing your bs whatever you want
After all these years you still don’t know that the bulk of your audience won’t be happy with anything you post? Hint: it’s not because of you or the content.
looks better than gta vi.
looks like unicorn’s vomit
Texture pop in from oncoming vehicles is pretty bad and needs some work
Idk about anyone else, but I for one love getting ray/path tracing mods for older games. When I buy an OLED monitor these mods are going to look glorious. Ofc, the modders need to actually work on every texture and material first (not just make all material look shiny af)
