Bandai Namco has revealed the changelog for Elden Ring’s day-1 update. This patch is 13GB in size and will be applied automatically to the Steam version (so you won’t have to separately download it).
According to the release notes, Update 1.02 resolves frame rate drops under certain conditions. Various reports suggest that it also reduces the stuttering issues while exploring the open-world environment.
Additionally, this patch brings text and balance adjustments. It also improves play controls, and packs NPC event fixes and general adjustments.
Lastly, Bandai Namco re-confirmed that it will be adding Ray Tracing effects to the game via a post-launch update. The publisher will reveal more details about this Ray Tracing in the future.
Elden Ring releases tomorrow on Steam. Since Bandai Namco has not provided us with a review code, we’ll be testing the launch version once it unlocks.

Day one patches are a joke. If they have the patch ready on day one then they were obviously working on the patch before release. They could have just waited a day to release the game.

I think the real use of day 1 patches is simply to draw attention, free advertising.
Its a day one patch because the game goes “gold” weeks before release but they work on bug fixes in that time. When it goes gold, the “final” code is uploaded to storefronts and printed on disks. Any fixes they make can only be submitted after launch, its just storefront policy. No idea how people don’t know this
There is no way a store like Steam would restrict updates before launch, especially now with so much malware around.
Having uploaded to steam before.. you’re correct. The other platforms, however, do not work that way. And as a big release, you want version parity at launch, thus day one patch for all platforms

The game is a friggin epic masterpiece. Frame pacing issues or stutter due to Shafer compilation is a hardware issue. Meaning it’s not fast enough. It could be cpu based or gpu.
From Software had been pushing the limits since the original Xbox and Otogi 1 & 2.
Actually since the Xbox one and PS4 they have generally created PC first and then port to console.
If it’s a dx12 game it was likely developed for PC and Xbox first then ported to PlayStation.
If it’s Vulkan it could go either way

For anyone that’s thinking that the day one patch will fix the reported performance issues, well I got news for you. It doesn’t. In fact it seems to have made things worse:

So pretty much the same issue some of us have to deal with when it comes to Half-Life: Alyx. That game is still unplayable to this day. Apparently, the 1.0 version runs flawlessly whilst any patch beyond that will cause the game to run like crap on most headsets even though it looks playable on standard monitors if you’re mirroring it.
This is why I much prefer the way GOG handles this issue by providing every user the option to reinstall older versions in case the developer unintentionally breaks their own game. Can’t believe that Steam till this day doesn’t include that option.
Reviewers who played before this patch are saying the patch makes the frame rate and general stutter (frame pacing) worse than it was before the patch.
How is it possible that the same issue exists in every from software game? How is it possible that the bluepoint remake of Demon Souls looks better and runs better than Elden Ring or any other souls game?
