YAGER Is No Longer Working On Dead Island 2

Deep Silver has just announced its decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. This basically means that YAGER is no longer working on Dead Island 2. Not only that, but Deep Silver did not reveal any other studio working on it, meaning that the game will most probably miss its 2016 release.

As Deep Silver announced via the game’s official Twitter account:

“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve.

After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER.

We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”

Dead Island 2 was originally planned for a Spring 2015 release. In April 2015, Deep Silver revealed that the game was delayed to 2016.

    1. Eh, what? Dying Light was done by a different studio (Techland – the same team that made Dead Island). So I don’t see how DL pushed the DI2 team back.

This news confirms what I was already suspecting: that it will be a (very) long time before we see Dead Island 2 … and it probably won’t be as good as Dying Light.

      1. when deep silver seen how awful the bland dead island 2 was compared to the amazing world of dying light…..

….that pushed things back… i always said deep silver would can yager after dying lights release.

    1. Name one zombie game being made in 2016 that actually looks like fun this year we had dying light which to me was a 7.5/10.

      1. NO zombie game looks like fun. Play again the first dead island. You won’t miss much.
        Or Dead Rising.
        Or Dying Light.
        Dead Rising 2….
or any other game that starts with dead something….

        1. screw the dead rising series never cared for it. Anyways nice to have different likes tho the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing

      1. Lol everyone asking me to name zombie games 😀
        I don’t know…. Zombie simulator 2016….they’re all sh*t early access or not.

  1. Cool. Maybe Deep Silver can focus their resources on Dying Light 2. The first game was great despite some console port launch problems (there’s still no option to remove the annoying chromatic aberration).

And speaking of Deep Silver, Secret Files Tunguska (the full game, no episodic BS) is now only $0.99 on the App Store for a limited time.

      1. Dying Light was made by the same people that made Dead Island, but was published by Warner Bros. Interactive.

Well, that explains the crappy port. Same people that published Batman Arkham Knight.

        1. techland is a tiny team who had a massive job on their hands… that explained the technical issues at launch.

and lol at even putting deep silver and dying light 2 into the same sentence.

  2. I don’t even care anymore. After the last two installments the can bury it for all I care.
