XIII Remake delayed, to be released in 2020

Microids has announced a new release window for the official remake of XIII. The remake of the world-famous cel-shading FPS, which became a cult classic after its original release in 2003, will now release in 2020.

François Coulon, Head of Production at Microids, said:

“This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.”

In the XIII Remake, you play as the famous Thirteen, accused of assassinating the President of the United States. Our protagonist will wake up, suffering from amnesia on Brighton beach and the only clues to his past will be a small key and a mysterious tattoo of the Roman numerals XIII on his collarbone. Thus, it’ll be up to you to find the answers during this 34-level solo game.

It’s also worth pointing out that The Playmagic Team aims to modernize the graphics, sound and animations. Still, the team aims to remain faithful to the original vision so that’s a good thing. The team will also rework XIII’s gameplay mechanics in an effort to modernize the experience.

Unfortunately, Microids has not released any new screenshots or trailer for XIII Remake. Therefore, I’ve included below the game’s debut trailer that came out in April 2018.

Enjoy!

    1. Looking at how the game had stealth sequences but enemies took multiple headshots to go down, ruining the stealth…. i beg to disagree.

  1. Good. I’d rather the game not be rushed then get another half as*ed experience that had some great gameplay ideas that were ultimately a let down due to how rushed the original game felt.

Longer development times means a better chance of the game being a far better cohesive experience.

  2. Lol I forgot about this already. I can’t wait for something new for XIII, it was one of the favorites of my childood.

  3. LOL, when I clicked on this I thought it was “Final Fantasy XIII” and
thought people praising it were f*king insane/Reeeeee……. Tarr Ded.
