Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 may not release in the first half of 2021

It appears that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is in development hell. Back in August 2020, Paradox Interactive announced that the game has been delayed until 2021. And last week, Paradox’s CEO stated that he does not expect the game to be released in the first half of 2021.

As Ebba Ljungerud said when asked about the release date of Bloodlines 2.

“I do not think it will come in the first half of the year, but we will see.”

It’s worth noting that Bloodlines 2 was originally meant to come out in May 2020. However, in October 2019, Paradox and Hardsuit delayed the game from May 2020 to simply 2020.

To be honest, this whole situation does not really surprise us. As we wrote in August 2019, the game had major performance/optimization issues. Moreover, its animations needed additional polish and work. Now whether the game will benefit from these delays is anyone’s guess.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a first-person RPG in which players will immerse themselves in the World of Darkness and live out their vampire fantasy in a city filled with intriguing characters that react to their choices. According to the game’s description, their unique disciplines are a weapon in their forward-driving, fast-moving, melee-focussed combat system.

The game also promised to support Ray Tracing, DLSS and mods at launch.

Stay tuned for more!

Thanks Avanza

  1. Shocks will be given if this ends up more than graphic fluff with a shallow, emptied out gameplay shell of the original.

  2. Good, cause the footage they showed so far looks terrible. Even worse than the original, and that’s a low bar gameplay wise.

    1. If you are referring to the comments section not showing up frequently on articles then I think I know what the problem is. If you don’t see the Dark Mode button on an article then the comments section won’t show up. The problem is stemming from the Dark Mode add-on.

The only solution that I have found is to click on a different article where the Dark Mode button does show and then exit and go back to the article that you did want to comment on and hopefully the Dark Mode button will show up which means you can see the comments section but on some articles the button never shows up which means that you can never see the comments section.

It’s a lot of unnecessary hassle. Best to just uninstall the Dark Mode add-on imo.

    2. The Dark Mode has nothing to do with the mobile version. We’ve implemented AMP for mobile so it should be blistering fast on your mobiles (that’s why there is a different layout from the desktop version). That’s why Disqus fills the entire viewpoint on mobile (there is no option regarding this zoom in). In fact, there is no Dark Mode at all on mobile right now due to the implementation of AMP 😛 . I’ve also tested each and every browser on mobile and Disqus loads immediately whenever I scroll over it (after opening a new article).

We’ve reverted back to the non-AMP layout as there were numerous complaints though.

  3. Hopefully they’re using this time to clean the script from any SJW garbage left over by Cara Ellison… oh, who am I kidding, they’re probably doubling down on it

        1. “. “Cara brought fresh ideas to the project and many of her contributions will be present in the game launching next year. ”

So the trigger warning stay in.

  4. Then this would be a good time to play the first VTMB. It looks like it will be the better of the two anyway.

I’m betting most gamers here have never played it. The only negative thing I can think of is that the melee combat is a bit awkward. Other than that it’s really good and you can play through as different factions with different abilities so it’s a lot of gaming value for the money.

If you get it from GOG then it’s pre-patched with the latest mod from wesp

It’s from 2004 but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

    1. “different factions”

You mean clan, right? There’s 3 factions you can choose, Camarilla, Anarchists or Kuey Jin, but that’s mostly end game stuff for a different ending. There’s a mod that added Sabat faction as well but it’s just ok.

  5. Whatever this mess is with the Dark Mode implementation, for me it’s not worth it to struggle with this site to be able to read comments. I will take a year off from DSOG and come back then to see if the site is working without unnecessary hassles.

    1. You can use the Light Mode which is the mode we’ve been using all those years (your selection will be saved and you’ll be served the mode you choose).

Also, the Night Mode only has minor issues with the Chrome browser, it works perfectly fine in Light Mode with Chrome (I’m using Light Mode on Chrome myself). With all the other browsers, both Night and Light Mode work perfectly.

        1. Yeap, the Dark Mode has currently issues with Chrome Mobile and FireFox Desktop (Chrome Desktop works fine). We are trying to resolve them. Until then, you can either use the Dark Mode (it’s not completely unreadable) or the Light Mode (which was our default theme all those years).

  6. I’ll tell you why they delayed it – they’re not going to fix the performance, they’re simply going to slap 3090 as recommended requirement hoping that in a year, that’ll be the talking point.
