Unravel – Physics-based Puzzle Platformer – Is Now Available

Electronic Arts and Coldwood Interactive today launched Unravel via digital download on Origin for the PC. Unravel is a unique physics-based puzzle platformer centered around a tiny, endearing character named Yarny.

Martin Sahlin, Creative Director at Coldwood, said:

“I wanted to make something more personal, something with more impact. The game didn’t have to change the world, or even try, but it had to be genuine, it had to have a deeper meaning. It had to have heart.”

Unravel promises to feature stunning environments that are inspired by the nature of northern Sweden, where the game was created. The visuals showcase the beauty in the ordinary – getting down on Yarny’s eye level helps immerse players in the splendor of even the most common things. The environment is more than simply a backdrop though, with clues and hints about the story entrenched throughout, for the player to uncover.

In addition to the landscape, players will experience the game’s emotion and story come to life through the original music score. Unravel’s story is told in very few words so music plays a critical role in setting the atmosphere. Composed entirely by local Swedish musicians, Unravel’s soundtrack is inspired by local folk music and traditional instruments and beautifully captures the tone of the game’s environments.

Enjoy!

      1. So what? For us Greeks it means that since there is no retail version we cant buy the game because paysafe cards are not accepted.

          1. And just for the story,i contact the support and the first thing i said it was ” I am from GREECE and i am trying to make a purchase using my DEBIT card,is it possible?”And after 30 minutes of chating (try this, try that) he said to me:”You cant make a purchase cause you are using a debit card from greece” #facepalm

    1. Developers themselves often has no say what platform will be used for distribution nor DRM or in this case anti-tamper solution will. Publishers do that.
Apart of that EA has every right to use any type of distribution they want as long as customers accept it, same as Valve has its own steam, microsoft has its store etc.
I would personaly have problem with denuvo if it wouldn’t have any performance impact, which apparently doesn’t. On the other hand I do not believe any DRM will help you to bigger sales and therefore any system of this kind is pointless from its nature.

      1. Not the fact that there is code running whatever the hell it wants in your system without you being able to know exactly what? Not the fact that it limits modders and other creative people?

People are losing more and more access to their own products….but it’s all good…. I guess.

Companies that care only about the bottom dollar will eventually do this, claim it’s ok, pay a small amount to internet “defenders” and sheeps will follow.

You see, CEOs know a very important fact about humanity, half of it is below average. And now they can access the internet with the same ease as a trained monkey.

  1. Looks beautiful, but somehow I wish they’d have done something a bit more with it than just having it be a puzzle-platformer, given the setting.
