Unity Engine feature

Unity 5 Releases Today, Will Be Available In Personal (Free) & Professional (Paid) Editions

While Unity3D will hold a livestream today (in an hour that can be viewed below), some big news got leaked prior to it. The official website had – momentarily – revealed the availability of Unity 5. Even though Unity3D was quick to react, a number of viewers were able to screen-grab the website before its latest update.

Not only that, but it was also leaked that Unity 5 will come in two versions; Personal and Professional. The Personal version will be completely free and will give access to all of the game’s features. On the other hand, the Professional version will cost $1500 to buy or $75/Month to subscribe.

We expect Unity3D to issue a press release soon (as well as make Unity 5 available for download), so stay tuned for more!

    1. not sure financial wise which one is better but i always had a soft spot for Unity not sure why specially after playing Dreamfall Chapters.

      1. Not disappear but CryEngine, Frostbite, Unreal and Unity are most known.

“Previous versions of Enlighten were already in several games and engines, including the Frostbite 2 engine backing Battlefield 3, and now with Enlighten 3 the company is hoping to extend its reach further with its inclusion into the ever popular for mobile Unity 5 engine, and as an add-on for the similarly popular Unreal Engines 3 and 4.”

  1. As I said a couple of days ago Unity is getting better and better but it is always everything in the hands of the artist.

I saw and still see “misuse” of very good engines…sometimes with awful level design, poor low poly assets, terrible texturing or awful lighting. Almost any engine in the right hands can be good.

A couple of videos from Unity 5 for those who say that “looks bad” or whatever compared to the “big ones” like Unreal 4:

PS: Don’t hate in one if you like the other…there is place for every single one of them. More engines, more games. 😉
