Ah.. Trine. Loved this series. Beautiful games. Glad that they’re still making them.
For a series known for being visually stunning, the fact the 5th game is 100% visually identical to 4 is … eh?
Arguably even 4 was kinda of a downgrade to 3.
It’s due to graphics stagnation. Frozenbyte always put down tons of time and detail handcrafting every scene, the leap in visuals in the engine department is minimal nowadays with the exception of path tracing, which in turn can be faked pretty well using existing rasterized techniques. Therefore games aren’t really looking much better than for example BF3 from 2011…
It does look exactly like Trine 4 but how was 4 a downgrade to 3? It’s the other way around. Going back to 2D gameplay allowed them to polish the visuals way more. They also learned how to not abuse filters.
It’s Trine 5 already? Damn I didn’t even know about trine 3
this game is for children
I woke up to see this on GoG this morning. Let’s just say I’m a happy man. Bring it in Frozenbyte. This is the only game I can get my wife to play with me. She’s loves this franchise. My only regret for this franchise is that they couldn’t get that new dimension from trine 3 working. Or atleast provide it as an option. But I’m guessing that would be too much work. Nevertheless, I’m just happy to get a 5th installment.
Yeah I absolutely hated the combat in Trine 4, boring, repetitive, constraining and annoying. And worst of all, enemy encounters never came as a surprise thanks to the purple mist giving away its location. Such a dumb design in an overall great game. Hope they change it in 5.
Oh yeah I remembered why enemy encounters weren’t surprising, THE STUTTERING! The game would do a big stutter when the enemies loaded in so you knew when they’d be here. Oh man this stuttering thing has been a pain in the side for a long time and I was tolerantly blind to it.
Looks like Trine 4 DLC and that is to say, I will buy it.
