NBA 2K24

To the surprise of no one, NBA 2K24 is still old-gen on PC

A few hours ago, we informed you about the new crossplay feature that NBA 2K24 will support. As its leaked trailer suggested, crossplay will be only available on the Next-Gen version of NBA 2K24. And, according to the game’s official FAQ, NBA 2K24 PC will be once again based on the old-gen version.

NBA crossplay

As the game’s official FAQ confirmed, only the PS5 and the Xbox Series S|X versions will support crossplay. What this ultimately means is that the PC version will be once again based on the old-gen version of NBA 2K24. I mean, you don’t have to be Albert Einstein to put two and two together.

This is the third time that PC gamers will be missing out on all the features that the Next-Gen (or should we say, Current-Gen) version of NBA 2K24 will have. And, to be honest, this sucks. I mean, even EA went ahead and brought FIFA’s current-gen version to PC.

At this point, I seriously hope that the PC sales of NBA 2K24 will be as low as possible. Because, after three whole years, it definitely doesn’t matter if the game has “Mixed” or “Negative” reviews on Steam. It’s shockingly ridiculous how 2K Games is treating PC gamers when it comes to its NBA 2K series.

According to SteamSpy, NBA 2K22 had over 500K owners and NBA 2K23 had over 1 million people on Steam. Now I don’t remember if NBA 2K23 had a free-to-play weekend. So, I can only assume that these two games sold at least 500K copies each on Steam. Add to this their ridiculous loot boxes and, apparently, these PC sales are more than enough for 2K Games.

Anyway, 2K Games plans to release NBA 2K24 on September 8th. For what it’s worth, we won’t be further covering this title. That was our stance with both NBA 2K22 and NBA 2K23. So, GG 2K Games and see you next year.
