The Witcher 3 Unofficial Advanced Modding Tools released, allows you to create new story-based quests

Although CD Projekt RED has not released any official modding tools for its latest RPG, modder ‘rmemr’ has just released a collection of in-game mods and external tools aimed to enable the creation of new quests by mod authors.

According to the modder, this collection provides a variety of tools to create or modify different kinds of game content. Moreover, and although one of the goals of this collection was to provide tools that reduce some modding pitfalls, every tool does require some deeper knowledge to be usable: on its own and in the grand scheme of combining content into a quest mod.

What this basically means is that these modding tools are meant for advanced modders and not for novice. Still, these tools open up a lot of possibilities so here is hoping that we’ll see some cool story-driven quests.

In order to showcase what is possible with these modding tools, rmemr shared a new custom Quest that you can download from here.

Those interested can download and find more details about these unofficial advanced modding tools for The Witcher 3 by visiting its NexusMods page.

Have fun!

    1. On paper yes. In practice we’ll have to see if the modding community can actually make good use of it.

          1. Tbh the game have so much content i didn’t even bother with the last expansion. 60 hours of game nowadays is more of a detriment when you want to play something else.

          2. Man, if you didn’t yet, play W&B… It’s astonishing!
            I loved HoS too.
For me, best game experience so far. I’m not a hardcore player, I just enjoy walking around and follow a great story, and when you have good gameplay as well, things become just perfect. This game has it all

  1. And you don’t see anything like this in recent games. Maybe Far Cry 5 with its arcade mode thing, but that was dropped by New Dawn.

    Respect to CDPR!

  2. Oh great, does that mean the Farewell of the White Wolf project might go to Witcher 3? I really hope it does.

  3. “CD Projekt RED has not released any official modding tools for (TW3)”

Incorrect. CDPR made ModKit available to download as of August 2015.

However, and far more importantly, CDPR failed to also release the REDKit mod tool for TW3, i.e. the full modding suite as provided for TW2, which they’d stated would be happening. In January 2014 in an IGN interview CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski stated,

“we are looking to release the REDkit sometime after the game launches for the modding community. This way, people can create their own adventures, and this
will inevitably add a lot of fun and replayability to the game.”

Now that we finally have tools approximating to those which CDPR promised but failed to deliver then we’ll soon be enjoying the ‘added fun and replayability’ that CDPR chose to deny us. Thank heavens for the great PC game modding community once more doing the work of lazy/uncaring devs.

    1. One thing is for sure, I’m definitely playing this again!
And no, I’m putting my hands in any MOD, gonna play it raw.

      1. Ditto albeit I wouldn’t ever choose to play TW3 without mods.

This new tool brings with it the hope that TW3 could, courtesy of the modding scene, finally become a game that warrants being mentioned in the same breath as modded Skyrim.

        1. I loved the game the way it is. Can’t think of anything else to add to make it better. Would love another DLC as deep as both it receive, though.

          1. There were numerous mods I used when last playing it which served to improve the game in various ways for me and the many others using them.

Mods for textures, weather, UI, item sorting, no Gwent, loot, map markers, carry weight, lighting, LOD, music, better upgrades, sprinting, oils application, levelling, HUD, weapons degradation and more.

          2. Understand, but it’s not meant for me. Loved everything on the game, even Gwent!
            ;D

  4. so many delusional PCgamer thinking that CDPR still the savior of PC gaming. let’s see.. they said they didnt dumb down the PC version.. then a year later they admit downgrading it. they also didn’t bother to provide the REDkit that was promised not to mention no HDR for PC version of witcher 3. they however, have made tonnes of money from consoles and cyberpunk 2077 console version would be the definite version. if you looking to support CDPR, abandon the PC now as your savior has already turned against you 🙂 … oh one last thing that i need mention? patches. they used to release the patch for PC first as it’s the fastest platform that you can release it. but no… they even impose parity so that PC version will be delayed and released together with the consoles version. or worst in reality, PC version are even later than consoles as they have to wait for console patch release first :).

    1. Hasn’t the witcher 3 stopped being patched a while ago? And honestly, HDR really isn’t all that brilliant. I usually leave it off, even though I have one of those super expensive HDR 1000 monitors.
