CD Projekt RED has announced that modders are now able to sign up for the Playtest of the REDkit Modding Tools for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These modding tools will offer you the freedom to edit almost anything in the game.
The Witcher 3 REDkit is a comprehensive modding tool for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is based on the same set of tools that were used by the devs to create the game and should allow for nearly limitless freedom in modding it.
For instance, PC modders will be able to create new assets, scripts, quests, animations and more. So, in theory, modders will be able to create total conversions and DLC-sized fan expansion mods.
Although there isn’t any specific ETA on when these tools will come out, CD Projekt RED aims to release them sometime in 2024. Modders who are eager to get their hands on them can go ahead and sign up for the Playtest.
It will be interesting to see what modders will be able to achieve with these tools once they come out. After all, we’ve already seen some cool mods for both the original/vanilla and the Next-Gen versions of The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3 came out 9 years ago and thanks to its Next-Gen Update, it’s still a great-looking game. However, after replaying it, I have to say that its animation system is really dated. In my opinion, one of the first mods should be a better animation system.
Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at these other mods for it. For instance, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Yesterday, we shared a must-have gameplay overhaul mod. Let’s also not forget this mod that lets you kill most in-game NPCs. In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content that was cut from all previous The Witcher games. Then we have the Witcher 3 Next-Gen Combat Redux Mod. Earlier this month, we shared a mod that attempted to remove the fake “hero” light from the game’s cut-scenes.
We also have some mods for those playing with Ray Tracing. The RTX Mirrors Mod adds proper reflections to the game’s mirrors. Then we have this mod that improves the fire effects via Ray Tracing Global Illumination. And finally, this mod fixes the Ray Tracing bleach issues.
Stay tuned for more!

Amazing news. WolvenKit is nice but REDKit like what we had for TW2 would be incredible.
Slowly but surely, CDPR is delivering on everything that was once promised.
“For instance, PC modders will be able to create new assets, scripts, quests, animations and more. So, in theory, modders will be able to create total conversions and DLC-sized fan expansion mods.”
cyberpunk?
CDPR is one of the company that is gaining trust instead of spending it
Ehh I’ll start trusting them again once they disavow their support for ESG and apologize for doing so in the first place.
NOT gonna happen. They will ride that chariot till the wheels fall off. It’s a hill they plan on dying on. Even if they did I wouldn’t care. I ain’t the forgiving type. Especially when it comes to corpos. Forgiving them just means, the BUTTFUQIN they tried unlashing on me didn’t work so now it’s time to backtrack their actions.
I used to have a lot of respect for CDPR not just for their games but also for their GOG store but lost some respect due to the mess that they released Cyberpunk 2077. Gamers, once loyal fans of them, retaliated harshly and imo deservedly so. It was such a mess on consoles that Sony pulled the game from their store until issues were addressed. Investors retaliated as well and their stock share value immediately plummeted 50%. They have never recovered the trust of investors since then and their stock is down 61% from their high in 2020.
They have since then done a lot to improve CP 2077 but one thing that I still find a bit disturbing is a top exec in the company said last year that gamers made too big of a deal about how bad CP 2077 was on release. I wonder if they truly have learned their lesson. I guess we will see when Witcher 4 gets released.
You call 9 years after a game is released gaining trust? Look man, there was no one that was a bigger CDPR fanboy than me. But lets face it, it’s over.
Wow. How timely – it’s only been 9 years.
Considering how far Skyrim mods have come, I wonder what Witcher 3’s mods will look like in 10 years time.
I was recommended this website by my cousin I am not sure whether this post is written by him as nobody else know such detailed about my trouble You are amazing Thanks
I look forward to playing the Witcher 1, 2 as mods over the ESG banker funded remake abominations that will be released. CDPR now is as legitimate as Bioware was when the founders left. It’s public, government (banker) funded and the new diversity hires are so mentally ill that they tried to get the Witcher 3 lead fired and drove him out of the studio, even though he was eventually cleared of wrongdoing. It’s CDPR only in name now. Just like Lucasfilm.
