CD Projekt has launched a livestream for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update, in which they showcase the game’s Ray Tracing effects. This video can give you an idea of what you can expect from this upcoming next-gen update that will be available to all owners of the base game.

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen will feature dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original. Alongside RT, the game will include a variety of mods from the get-go. From what we know so far, CDPR will include the HD Rework Project.

CD Projekt RED has detailed the Ray Tracing effects for PC. The game will have RTGI and RTAO. Furthermore, CDPR has added some new Ultra+ settings that will push/stress a lot of GPUs, and has improved the game’s SSR. Not only that but there will be support for both NVIDIA DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2.0.

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update will become available on December 14th.

  1. Amazing news. From the screenshot they put up before it seemed like RT Shadows was the only thing but RTGI will take this game so much further. Also glad to see HalkHogan getting recognition by the studio itself.

    1. The talent left the company. CEO is gone, lead writer of Witcher 3 was falsely accused of bullying by new hires, was cleared of it and left the company (who could blame him).
Their ESG video that was mass downvoted makes it clear that CDPR now exists to serve their primary shareholders. That is the same people who own Disney and everything else in entertainment. Vanguard, Blackrock, Morgan Stanley. These new hires are trying to act like they created Witcher.3. They didn’t.

CDPR is now Bioware 2.0. Learn that, accept it and save money on the next game that will be Mass Effect Andromeda levels of bad.

      1. At least 90% of what they showed as new are mods “stolen” from Nexus…top quality development there. I wonder how much they are going to break not just previous mods, but the game itself (granted, the game balance is broken already in vanilla, so how much they can mess it up is beyond me).

        1. Cyberpunk is clean now and kept updating. Andromeda is boring and abandoned long ago. As much as I can’t stand cdpr anymore, gotta give them credit in that department. They kept updating the game and still want to do more, anything with EA & bioware is a MOVING ON after 3 months. They abandoned the hell out of Anthem. It’s all about the company for EA. They have the audacity to think, “oh it will cost us too much money to turn things around”. After they made all that money, they say “Fuq You”. Andromeda is not a mass effect game at all. All expansions abandoned. Sadly CDPR will be just like that in years to come. The pattern is clearly there.

        2. Cyberpunk is legit. The launch sucked but the core game is cool and the world is incredible. Could have been better but the woke commies invaded to destroy it from the inside.

    1. Ofc it will break the mods, its a title update, just for the Chinese language patch the mods were broken, imagine this that adds screen space reflection to every surface now.

      1. Well, I guessed so much but still. Anyways I don’t want to mess up already working game with over 160 mods. Game already looks fantastic with tooklighting, blitzfx and hdrp. And tbh they didn’t even bother changing the lighting or fixing the viper armor or any animations. Imo “true e3 armor” is the best armor and now “e3Arp” is in the works that will bring true walking animations as well. I’ll wait for that than this.

  2. Not a single frame of comparation, only cringe blue haired women speaking. kinda sad. now we have to wait for Youtubers..

  3. Possibly the last good game CDPR ever made. Woke hiring practices has doomed the studio, like most great gaming institutions. I’m glad Halk Hogan PL got to work on this though. His “HD Reworked” texture enhancement mod is really good.

    1. It is reeeally good, I’m like proud of him making his way in with actually pristine quality work.
The way it should be. Justice has been made.

  4. I’m a big fan of rt ao. Ssao is too distracting imho. Shame no rt reflections but at least they’re improving their ssr. Haven’t really experienced rtgi myself tbh, looking forward to checking it out. Also is dlss 3 also not supported? The trailer looked to be quite framey

  5. Not impressed at all with this update preview. Apart from the new camera settings, they are wasting time talking about things we already know what to expect. A lot of questions are left unanswered.

  6. Honestly it looks like a texture pack

“with new content from the netflix tv shows”

Why would you do that? The show is so bad that the main star left because they hated the witcher and the fans. Lol it even has the scr**um looking armor, wtf? Cd projekt is dead they have completly sold out.

    RIP.

  8. lol I was going to say “it doesn’t look better than the HD project”, but I didn’t know it was included.
Anyway, I guess it’s a good idea to have that all-in-one solution for people like me who are lazy and don’t want / cannot spend time downloading and installing mods.

I’ll still use some shaders to correct the bad lighting, though.

  9. That stream was uncomfortable to watch.
Get some real programers that know their s@it to talk about this instead of showing “Hey we have a diverse blue hair edgy girls at our studio”.

  10. Bal**ack Nilfgaardian armor and crappy Geralt armor from the crappy Netlfix show make their entrance. Vomit-inducing. This so called “next-gen update” still looks worse than the 2014 gameplay demo in terms of lighting and effects.
