Daedalic Entertainment has revealed the official PC system requirements for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. According to the specs, the game will support both DX11 and DX12, and will require 45GB of free hard-disk space.
For gaming at 1080p/Medium Settings without Ray Tracing, PC gamers will need an Intel i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with 16GB of RAM. Daedalic also suggests using an NVIDIA GTX 1080 or an RTX 2060.
For gaming at 1440p/High settings with Ray Tracing, Daedalic recommends using an Intel i3-6100 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with 32 GB RAM. However, it appears that RT will be heavy in this game. With DLSS Quality enabled, the developers recommend using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will release on May 25th!

They don’t even care about optimizing one bit these days don’t they?
They throw DLSS/FSR and call it a day.
Minimum – Graphics: GTX 1080/RTX 2060
The 1080 is ~6.5 years old, the 2060 ~4.5. How is that not optimised?
Minimum – Processor: Intel i7-4770 AMD Ryzen 5 1600.
How old is the I7-4770? 9 yeas now? Again, how is that not optimised?
Downvotes by peasant PC gamers that should be on console, or better, working!
For 1080p medium at maybe 30fps..
..with bad graphics.
Gollum looks like he had 2xretard mode and was a bootleg toy from AliExpress.
exactly
Never understood this logic. Hardware can be old but still be very capable to run videogames. We are not in the 90s or estoy 00s where HW got obsolete after 2 or 3 years.
This game asks for better HW than cyberpunk 2077 or flight simulator. I am calling it unoptimized until what I see on screen justifies the HW they ask for.
Hardware can be old but it won’t do the job when running video games using modern techniques. Try running CP2077 maxed out on anything less than a 3080. FS still doesn’t have the RT that was promised. People holding on to old hardware are just holding development back. If it’s down to cost then realise consoles exist.
I presume you are still using a black and white TV…
This game doesn’t look like Cyberpunk, it looks like a PS3 game. Also its running on an ultra optimized engine: UE4.
That’s why it runs on a decade old CPU and a 6.5 year old GPU. What’s the problem with that?
Now what other UE4 games offer RT reflections and shadows, but don’t require the use of DLSS at 1440p to hit 60FPS with a 2.5 year old 3080?
Ghostrunner, Chernobylite, Ascent and many more -well optimized- UE 4 games do.
Using a 3080/12900k Cherbobylite Enhanced Edition would drop in to the 40s wihtout DLSS when maxing out graphics at 1400p. I don’t remember The Ascent holding 60FPS either without DLSS. I’ve not played Ghostrunner yet, but it’s in my library /shock, perhaps part of the Humble Choice?
Dude, you are right 😀
I think I actually turned off ray tracing in both the Ascent and Chernobylite. I think Ghostrunner is the only exception. So you are saying this game actually looks well optimized and in line with other UE4 games? If so, good to hear.
PS: yup, it was part of the last or current humble bundle.
I think I’m saying that so far this title doesn’t deserve the negativity it’s getting over the hardware requirements. I pre-ordered a Steam key from cdkeys for £25 since it has some RT and I like stealth games. Fingers crossed it turns out decent.
Same here man, I got it for about the same prize. The thing that has me most excited is that the story is being penned by a guy who’s doctoring in Tolkien, and seems to love the franchise.
The thing that has me most worried though is: how fun will the stealth be, will it be fun enough to carry a 12-15 hour game? I mean if the game is banking on stealth alone it needs to hold up right 😀

As someone who has the hardware to run this no problem your comment is ridiculously stupid.
Trying to convince people who can’t afford a 3080+ level GPU to buy a console is going to result in one thing only and that’s less and less pc gamers.
If it gets low enough then the market will be too small for developers to bother caring about.
Go look at the steam hardware survey and stop acting like a snob, You are like a walking talking PC Master race meme.
This is a classic example of a turkey voting for Christmas.
I’ve no issue with a smaller more affluent community that results in better quality products. ~32 years ago a 486/33 system cost me £3,200+VAT. £50-60 per game was not unusual. Inflation would increase these costs by 220-230% so £7,200+VAT for PC today and £120 for a game. Maybe we wouldn’t see so many turkeys…
Why ?
man so many games out that don’t look anything special or revolutionary and require insane spec cards, pathetic
Performance aside, what does Pumbaa from Lion King doing in LOTR?
PCs grow on trees nowadays! Don’t worry, They’d be fine.

When a game is badly optimized I take the free version.
I usually take the free version of every game I can, but this one, this one I won’t even bother.
Waste of time, transfer and hard drive space.
And game looks like poop
This. Even with ray tracing the game will have a very hard time going up against other PS3 games.
This sh**ty graphics doesn’t justify the requirement. I guess optimizing the games is out of equation these days.
Exactly what I have. The game looks great.
The problem isn’t optimization. These games are likely relatively well unoptimized.
You can not make the “unoptimized!!!” argument for literally every game released in 2023. Not all of these developers are that horrible.
It’s just that the PS5 and Xbox have GPU performance that equals a 3070. And that’s the hardware these games target.
But since PC gamers are stuck with ancient GPU on PC, because PC hardware is crazy expensive, PC games is a stuttering mess for most.
Since every Fortnite kid and “PCMasterrace” clown keeps buying $600+ GPU so they can show off their RGB fish tank…prices are not coming down.
The game looks worse than shadow of mordor and that came out nearly a decade ago…req specs don’t mean sh*t anymore.
Ty for post
they are trying so hard not to offend anyone by not making playable hero a white male, instead they choose the worst character from tolkien who cant fight or cast spells….. and the graphics is ugly af worst than shadow of mordor…. who the hell approve this sh*t?
Hey John, for someone who claims he’s free speech, your s**t discord server is pretty much anti-free speech pro-zigger pro-terrorist pro-communist safe space for retarded loser alt-right fa**ts.
Kick all zigger trumpist c**ts from there, hypocrite.
