Steam has removed hundreds of games

Reddit user thomasthe1st has recently posted that Steam is removing hundreds of games from the store, according to the list found on madjoki.com’s Steam tracker. This is probably due to the upcoming Steam autumn sale.

Most of these games are cheap independent titles from small developing teams. Many users were asking for a cleanup for a while now and it seems Valve actually took action.

Of course if you check the list of banned games, you will see Valve did indeed delete games before, but never on such scale.  So let’s hope Valve will continue to moderate content and keep the store clean.

You can see the full list of banned games here and you can also read the original Reddit post here.

I get that, but what if these games actually had customers?
i’m guessing there should be a section for the really cheap indie games.
because you’d be surprised to see how many go for cheap thrills.

  3. Saw the list, it seems so far the removed games are mostly shovelwares or asset flipped garbages. But Valve should really careful on removing games on the store which they allowed to sell in first place. Valve promised us to will not be taste police. After all, it’s the customers who decides to buy or not; not the store. Someone’s garbage can be someone’s treasure, there is always demand for something you would never want to have.
Keep the store clean? I prefer messy store over censored store curated by taste police. Who decides which game is ‘clean’ or not? For what standard? If it’s populism’s sake, I’d say Valve would need to nuke half of the game on their store because as long as a game exist, someone wants it to be removed from digital stores.
There are over 20,000 games on Steam store. It’s already messy and will be forever messy as long as the indie games exists. Like the quote “Who watches the watchmen?”, people should be always remain vigilance about Valve removing games on their store, because someone’s livelihood is depending on it.
I guess this removal is not out of political reason like the last scandal; but I’ll keep my eye on Valve’s decision because Steam became too massive to just consider it as local grocery store or supermarket; it’s a giant publisher and a culture itself, and the whole PC industry is depending on it.

      Yeah wtf happen?

  4. I dont know why idiots cry over selling games ?? Its a store you choose what to buy lol, if you dont like garbage just check your filter and make them gone.

    1. Its not the selling part but the lack of options on finding which games you want to buy. Like Steam still doesnt allow you to block asset flips from weekend warriors who dump hundreds of games on steam on a weekly basis. Especially during sales this means you have to dig through all this garbage 1 page at a time. There are just too many games and too few filters.

  5. It has something to do with somer publishers (namely a russion publisher called Dagestan Technology that goes by a lot of other names too) abusing Steamworks in some way or another. Nothing to do with the quality of the games.
