During its latest official livestream, Undead Labs revealed that State of Decay 2 will not feature any microtransactions. This basically means that the game won’t feature any loot-boxes. However, the team did reveal that the game will receive expansions in the form of DLCs.
As such, and Microsoft has already announced, State of Decay 2 will get two DLC packs in the future; the Independence and the Daybreak DLC packs.
State of Decay 2 releases on May 22nd and will be priced at $30. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and you can view its PC requirements here.
State of Decay 2 promises to immerse players in an all-new, multiplayer zombie survival fantasy in which they will be able to build a lasting community, working with other players or solo to overcome challenges while exploring your own unique story in a world that remembers the choices you make.

These articles titles which deal with MT’s, really need to get away from the word “feature”, regardless of its context really.
How about something like “State of Decay 2 will not be plagued by any microtransactions”, or maybe, “State of Decay 2 not be infested with microtransactions”.
Puts the topic in the negative light it deserves to be in.
Might be getting this game but only when it’s on Steam.
I’d only go for it if it was on Steam
Yep, GFWL 2.0 is a deal-breaker every time.
Damn i thought it would be on steam. Is this a MS studio game ?
It’s a Microsoft Studios game, yes, so it’ll be held prisoner to Windows 10 Store. However, it’ll likely be another timed-exclusive given that the FAQ on the game’s official website currently states,
What about Steam?
Stay tuned – we’ll have more to share in the future.
So perhaps remain patient by letting others essentially pay to beta test the game during its period of timed-exclusivity so it’s properly patched in time for its arrival on Steam.
Well i know they’re doing that because of money but i don’t see the point. Many if not the majority of gamers will not buy games on MS store simply because it’s garbage. Steam is way too well implemented in the gamers lives to have a popular alternative. They should just trash their store (ea, ubi, blizz) all of them should just use Steam but yea money.
So we’ll play the waiting game and once it’s on steam i’ll get it most probably. What’s funny is that their trying to cut down costs with their store but what happens is that people are just waiting for the steam version and we’re all hating on their store meanwhile. I mean they gotta see that right ? There has to be someone who sees all the hate they get..
Lol.
I’m not against there being competing digital stores and gaming networks because competition is to be welcomed. However, when they’re as abysmal as EA’s Origin, Ubisoft’s Uplay and Microsoft’s Windows 10 Store all are then I’d rather be playing on Steam instead.
Indeed. A game of this nature will very likely launch with myriad glitches and bugs needing to be ironed out, hence my comment of the mugs buying it on Win 10 Store essentially paying to beta test it. Save yourself that hassle by getting it on Steam where it’ll have been patched from day one, may be available at a better price and also quite possibly be more open to using mods.
Yep, Microsoft are presumably playing the long game in the belief that even though Win 10 Store is losing them money (relative to if they released Forza etc on Steam) in the short-term it will eventually attract larger numbers. The other reason perhaps being if they see it as part of a strategy to keep Xbox owners within the Microsoft ecosystem now that PC gaming is becoming so popular and increasingly mainstream. Maybe it’s part of a longer term strategy to withdraw from the console industry altogether whereby in future a Xbox ‘console’ may be a digital set-top box.
I say it’s more likely that Win 10 Store, as a gaming platform, will go the way of GFWL as opposed to it ever seriously rivalling Steam. Microsoft will be lucky if their store becomes as ‘successful’ as Origin and Uplay.
That’s my bet. The Windows Store looked good on paper but the top executives assumed PC gamers would flock to their store for the exclusives. That was possibly a mistake.
MS has a long history of f*cking over gamers and GFWL was just MS grasping onto a market and failing hard yet again. tbh if it weren’t for the necessity of Windows in businesses and government agencies this piece of sh*t company would have long ago become extinct.
True that.
If its on steam yeah sure I ll buy it
The first one is on Steam, so maybe this game will be up there soon.
Best zombie game ever: OMFG
-permanent death (if you die… your hero die forever): no one wans permanent death
– up to 4-player cooperation: wow
– no microtransactions: that dosnt mean the game is good
– 30 usd for retail or free with Game Pass: yeah cuz game pass is free.
Sp4ctr0 Spencer is just here to shill for Microsoft again given that this is a Microsoft Studios product.
But, yeah, it’ll be “free” with Game Pass on Xbone when one pays for both the mandatory Xbox Live Gold subscription to play online and then an additional separate Game Pass subscription. Two paid subscriptions each month so it’s definitely free then, lol! Xbot logic strikes again.
How is it irrelevant? Wake up dumbass, play anywhere titles work on pc with game pass
Oh my, you’ve crawled from under your bridge to post here once more. You’ve been sorely missed and I’m sure your special friend Sp4ctr0 Spencer will be delighted to have you back.
How’s that XBox One X working out for you so far?
You do realize that when Nvidia releases it’s nextgen GPU this year that an entry level GPU will perform the same as your precious XBox X and 2 years from now an entry level next-next gen Nvidia GPU will make your XBox X hopelessly outdated.
But you will only have to endure this state of pitiful peasantry for another year or two after that until MS deems you worthy of a new console which will be outdated gaming hardware 1 year later.
These consoles were outdated the second they came out. Cheap hardware does that.
Precisely. A console generation in instalments that was hamstrung by the mobile-oriented AMD Jaguar CPU from the get-go. The most chronically underwhelming console generation there’s ever been.
On the plus side, Microsoft abandoned Xbox exclusivity for their games, Sony now bring many PS4 games and hundreds of PS3 games to PC via PlayStation Now and thanks to Cemu the only truly standout new game from Nintendo is also available on PC. Consoles have become increasingly redundant throughout this two-part two-bit console generation so much progress has been made.
Yea clearly PC gamers are beginning to be advantaged but still i would love to see the Uncharted/Halo/GoW/Nhl/Last of us franchises on PC. I would love to play these games but damn man, it hurts my eyes when i play consoles. The 30fps is unbearable. I wish they would release a PS4 extreme or whatever that could do 60fps++ but then again, buying a decent pc would probably cost you the same and you could do so much more with your pc.
I don’t feel like consoles are the future. Not right now anyways.
Indeed. The golden era of console gaming is long gone.
It really has.
This fact has been slowly sinking in with Publishers/ Developers but money talks and bullsh*t walks. The smart money is on PC gaming and mobile gaming for the next few years.
Rofl overhype a generic zombie game. Must be hard to be an Xbox shill in these days.
You’ve got a point there. GPUs are crazy-priced right now due to miners and I can’t recommend anyone buying or building or upgrading a gaming PC this year. Maybe in 2019 but not this year it seems.
At least Nvidia isn’t gouging us too from what I’ve seen. On their store last week they had 1070 Ti available to buy for a little over a day and at the price before the mining craze caused retailers to just about double the price to take advantage of their customers.
That guy, Sp4ctr0, bought his XBox One X and promoted it extensively before the mining craze though.
Its a S**t game

BUT console peasants are easy to amuse
