Chrono Trigger on the PC is a mess, there is no doubt about that. While the game suffers from a variety of issues, the biggest one is the ridiculously awful filter that Square Enix used in order to ‘update’ its visuals. And from the looks of it, the Japanese company is aware of all the issues that its Chrono Trigger fans have reported these past few days.
As Square Enix announced, it is currently looking into the issues that were raised by its fans.
“We wanted to let you know that we are reading and listening to your messages and are aware of all of the issues that you’ve raised, which we are currently assessing. Please keep an eye on the Steam page for further information.”
Here is hoping that the team will indeed resolve the game’s issues and that this isn’t another attempt at damage control, similar to that for Nier: Automata; a game that never received any proper patch on the PC!

There’s a lot of issues worse than the over aggressive antialising. Like how the UI is the exact same one from the mobile port and it still asks you to press buttons on the main game screen.
Spanish PC version ask you to do not turn off your phone while saving 😐
It says that? Who turns off their phones or consoles when saving? Are there buffoons out there playing?
i3 and 4gb ram for a game that it’s from Snes, what the actual f’k?
seems just about right

Especially the fact I can play it on an emulator on a toaster… LOL. Square better NOT screw up FF VII Remake or they will die. That is a landmark game that changed the way we played RPGS. And that fanbase is very very rabid.
They’re going to. If you thought FF7 complete remake was going to be anything resembling FF7, you’re dumb. Not to mention FF7 was garbage in the first place.
And no, it didn’t. It isn’t a landmark game that changed anything. It’s almost identical to every SS game that came before it. Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, did actually change RPGs.
No that is not what I meant. What0 I meant that it captures the same feeling we had in the 90s with the game. I know it is NOT gonna be the same. And there is no reason for the name calling. And yes Chrono Trigger did change more than FF VII but FF VII did introduce the 100+ hour RPGs (100%).
Simply removing that filter won’t be enough. The sprites will still be horribly upscaled, and the UI needs to be redone entirely. This version is better than nothing, as at least now modders can pick up the slack, but what a piss poor job Squeenix has done as usual.
Yeah it has gone way down hill when the CEO stepped down and gave the company to his…. son…. who… is… a brainless…. twit… (Look at FF XII)
Yosuke Matsuda is not Yoichi Wada’s son.. They’re 5 years apart in age now to mention last name and look nothing alike. No idea what you;re on about. SE has sucked since FF11 though.
I was obviously misinformed. I will do better. And unlike you I do not resort to being mean to someone who truly did not know that. Excuse the heck out of me for being so damned Ignorant on one fact sheesh! Edited my post as you see above and admitting I was wrong. I am so sorry for triggering you Ugh….
A dev with their early access or released game can easily come into contact with their customers within as little as 24 hours. Meanwhile a multi million dollar publisher has to wait up to 4 days before even saying anything.
Always amazes me how the little guy manages to get into contact with it’s customers faster than the big guy with all the money and power.
It’s because in big companies, the people who are responsible for PR aren’t the same ones as those who make the games and they need approval for everything they communicate from both upper management and/or lawyers. It sucks, I know….
4 days to make a phone call though..
4 days to write an email or sending a screenshot of what’s been going on. They have millions upon millions of dollars. A huge lack of collective communication is not a valid excuse for a company that big.
If you have nothing positive to report, it’s a common PR method to just not communicate anything at all. Not always the best solution, clearly.
I only think of buying when they correct the problems.

Wait is he putting on a 2nd pair of shades? AWESOME!
Looking into the issues? What are they gonna do to fix them, remove the game form Steam?

Lol “assessing”, wich means forget about it!
They aren’t going to do sh.
Over half of what’s in that article is nitpicking and imaginary.
You literally can’t see the seams between the tiles unless you zoom in over 200%. No one is doing that while playing. There’s also no contrast between the “hard grass edge” and the soft shadowed part, that’s entirely imagined.
