Capcom revealed today that Street Fighter V will have 16 playable characters at launch, with 4 of them being brand new fighters to the Street Fighter universe. Not only that, but the Japanese company confirmed that all post-launch gameplay related content – including new characters – will be able be earnable for free by playing the game.
That’s amazing news for all Street Fighter fans as players won’t have to buy new DLC in order to gain access to new characters.
Here are the key features of Capcom’s new content strategy for Street Fighter V:
- The initial release is the only disc you will ever need to own
- All balance and system adjustments will be available for free
- All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable for free by playing the game
As Capcom noted:
“With Street Fighter V, we want to change the way that players interact with the series, and create an ever-evolving environment for players to enjoy. By releasing new characters on a regular basis, it will ensure that there is always new content to look forward to in the short term, and it prevents the competitive environment from ever becoming stale.”
Street Fighter V is coming to PC and PS4 and will support cross-platform play between these two platforms.
