STALKER feature

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha – Major Total Conversion With New Features – Releases Today [UPDATE]

STALKER fans, here is something special for you today. The dezowave group will today release a new mod for the first STALKER title, called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha. As its description reads, this mod aims to bring back to life the old design and atmosphere of the STALKER build that was shown back in 2002.

Here is what the dezowave group had to say about this mod when it was originally announced:

“Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long.”

To put it simple: this a Total Conversion of STALKER that brings a lot of new features to the table. From new weapons to new areas and from drivable cars to NPC AI enhancements.

The mod is being currently uploaded to ModDB and a torrent of it will be shared in a couple of minutes (you can download the torrent from here). Until then, you can read its FAQ here.

Enjoy the launch trailer and stay tuned for the download links!

  1. I hope they finish uploading it soon. The mod looks incredible, almost like playing STALKER for the first time.

  2. don’t remind me … they were supposed to release this yesterday. I’ve known about this mod for years and waited and waited and waited. Seems to me us Stalker fans are cursed to wait for enourmous amounts of time for anything Stalker related.

The original game was announced in 2002 and then countless delays folowed and the game was delayed all the way to 2007. Five years, what seemed to be an eternity then. After the next two games, Stalker 2 was announced, years passed and the project was scrapped. More years pass and we get Survarium, an online mmofps, which i think dissapointed every Stalker fan. Now this mod makes you wait because they can’t seem to upload the damn thing.

    1. I had high hopes for Survarium. I played what I could of the beta the other day…. I don’t want to be doom and gloom, but besides the clever environments, I was not to stoked… I dont want to write them off, but until I see the PvE/co-op stuff, I think I will only be left with fond memories of how awesome a SP game can be…

  3. It makes me sad that developers are wasting all the effort , time and resources on F2P Survarium instead of working of STALkER 2 .

    1. The guys who made Stalker SoC are working now in 4A Games. They probably have the balls to make Stalker 2, but they are busy and they don’t have the rights.

    2. Wait till you see Survarium (which I´m playing every day) in action mate. The game is going to be amazing…it will have coop and free play quite similar to STALKER.

I will also love to see STALKER 2 as well, for me is one of the best FPS and I still play it (currently playing CoP with Misery and SoC with Complete 2012) but since the team split up and they closed the studios you can´t expect too much. The name can´t be used by Vostok Games and not even talking about THQ which doesn´t excist any more…:(

At least these mods give the game a lot of life…compared to other games that you play once and then forget.

        1. Yes and no…let´s wait to see first how the game will be in its free play mode, it will have some mechanics that will blow your mind and an economy system.

What makes you feel immersed in a world is the world itself and what happens in it…it won´t be an MMO with a lot of people just messing around as far as I can tell…it will be more complex and story based with a low but decent amount of people per server.
Also it will be perma-death…similar to what DayZ is…but if you buy weapons or level up your character will keep that in your “general” inventory (like any RPG).

Let´s wait and see…these guys knows what they do. 😉

    3. I played the open beta day for Survarium Friday and immediately bought the founder pack ($10) to keep beta access. While it doesn’t fill the same niche as Stalker, it’s hardly “a waste”. It’s the first multiplayer game in a while that has really captured my imagination. It’s still a beta and right now it feels a little like a mix of Counterstrike and Stalker, but I’m totally cool with that. The ambiance is amazing for a multiplayer game, and all the foliage really changes gameplay. I’ve never played a shooter with this much “soft cover” so to speak.

I would totally have liked Stalker 2 better, but that wasn’t really their fault, afaik it was more a licensing issue. Don’t write off Survarium out of bitterness for what could have been. Take it for what it is, a cool online shooter in the flavor of Stalker.

  4. BTW dsoGaming . Any article about this victory .?
    escapistmagazine…com/news/view/134037-Analyst-PC-Has-Surpassed-Console-in-Terms-of-Revenue
PC gaming have surpassed console gaming in terms of games’ revenue .

    1. That’s sweet! Though tbh it’s been bigger than any single console for ages if you add together everything (for some reason a lot of people separate MMOs?!). The whole “consoles vs PC” thing is kind of silly, it should be platform vs platform eg. PC vs PS4 vs One. Why should the consoles get to gang up on us? lol

      1. Yep , but now it have surpassed consoles even if you compare all of them .
I find it funny how console gamers name some random games from different platforms like “Halo , Uncharted , Mario etc” and say to PC gamers “Can you play them.?” . In fact they themselves can’t even play half of those since not all of them are available on platform THEY own but to support their claim they use the word “consoles” instead and just list games from every platform except PC . Same goes for gaming revenue .

        1. Yup. And if you want to argue “exclusives”, PC destroys all of them combined. It dominated entire genres like MMO and the main strategy genres (MOBA, RTS, 4X) nevermind if you like sim games. Plus tons of small, amazing indie titles. I’d take Starbound over any console exclusive.

        2. As much as I’d love to have Uncharted, RDR, and a few other console exclusives on PC, they have nothing to offer in the FPS genre.

I’d take DOOM with mouselook over any console-exclusive FPS.

  5. I have the urge to go back and play this now that I have a much better graphics card. I may be slightly spoiled by Metro: LL’s graphics, though.

    1. Well if you play with Misery, Complete mod, Soup, those add a lot of textures, effects and such.
In Complete 2012 mod for SoC they even added a meteorite which is so bright that illuminates all the place for a moment…it is incredible what modders can do.

    2. Stalker’s engine is kind of strange because in some ways it’s outdated, yet they’ve tacked DX10/DX11 features onto it. There’s just something about it that works better than Metro for me, though. It has a sort of desolate ambiance no other game can match for me, not even Metro or Fallout.

  6. Looking forward to this one.

Played and still play Misery (CoP), The way to Pripyat (CoP), Complete 2009/2012 (SoC), Stalker Soup (SoC), L.U.R.K (SoC), and using SC Realistic Weapons add on…, let´s say that you can replay the game over and over and over again and enjoy it the same way every time.

    I love STALKER.

    1. Misery is up next for me, I replayed Pripyat with Complete last summer and loved it. Though I might jump on this mod first.

Have you played Clear Sky? I just couldn’t get into it. I wonder if the Complete mod for that makes it better :/

      1. I played Clear Sky but vanilla just with Atmosfear mod by CrommCuac. That game feels more like a demo for DX11 more than anything…is good but with some flaws compared to SoC (the best in my opinion) and CoP which doesn´t need too much addons…but Misery shows you how miserable the life in the zone can be. (though textures and everything looks sublime) 😉

      2. I didn’t like CS first play through. But after a couple mods, I really enjoyed it. The factions scripting had so many bugs in vanilla. Even after some mods, there are still a ton of bugs, my experience at least.. SoC is still the best as far as atmosphere and story. I wanted Stalker 2 so bad. Was extremely bummed when I heard they shut down.

  7. MODDB doesn’t seem to have it yet, but I found a new torrent on Pirate Bay that looks legit. Just search “lost alpha” and you’ll see it. Still going to take a while to get, it’s about 6GB.
