Project CARS 4 will be using Madness 2.0 Engine, aims to be the most realistic simulation ever

In a series of tweets (that have now been deleted) Ian Bell, CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, revealed the first details about Project CARS 4. According to Ian, Project CARS 4 will be using the Madness 2.0 Engine, and promises to be the most realistic simulation ever.

Ian claimed that every leaf will shadow every other leaf in Project CARS 4. As such, we can assume that Project CARS 4 will be using real-time Ray Tracing for shadows. In addition, the game promises to be the most realistic simulation ever, in every way. Yeap, that’s Ian overhyping the game but he at least states that PC4 will return to its simulation roots.

As we’ve already reported, Project CARS 3 had optimization issues. The game looked at times worse than Project CARS 2, and ran worse. Thus, it will be interesting to see Slightly Mad Studios will be able to overhaul its engine.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. my money is on the forza horizon series to push graphics even further. over average racing franchises. hopefully they make their next game with even more detailed characters and drivers. not just environments.

    2. maybe. we haven’t seen all of the games yet to compare. forza devs though have claimed they are switching over to photogrammetry and megascans for environments. which typically go into millions in geometry, so it makes for an interesting comparison no doubt.

  1. PC3 should’ve been a spin-off with a different name … like Project Cars: Full Throttle
    And PC4 should be PC3.

    1. Youre probably not aware of this but with PC3 before launch they were also often posting very similar things about how realstic the game is, how groundbreaking the new physics are etc.

  2. He always says this, SMS always fails to deliver.
Btw, a small studio from Brazil licensed their engine and delivered a better simulation than they ever did lol, don’t buy what this guy is selling.

  3. “every leaf will shadow every other leaf”…
I really wish we would see that in a first-person RPG, instead of a racing game, where we actually won’t have the time to even notice these leaves…

In Automobilista, trees are 2D sprites, and it looks extremely realistic in motion…
In fact, even on still pictures, AMS trees look better than AC Competizione, for example.

  4. No one has ever asked for leaf-ception. Rather dedicate that time on making your cars enjoyable to drive unlike PC2 where 30% of cars is an undriveable mess.

  5. I just wish it was actually fun. I miss the crazy powersliding racing games of old. Honestly though racing games just get boring. The AI is either too good or too bad.

  6. Oh poor baby, you only have a 2080 Ti that outperforms “next gen” consoles. PC graphics cards are always going to improve, you just bought a high end card at a suckers price.

  7. This guy is worse than Molyneux’s hyperbole back in the day. I use to be a huge fan of the franchise back when they were trying to be a sim. I no longer respect them thanks to their overhype and disal showing of pc3. Still waiting for this guy to show us his new console he was planning to unleash by now. He must be on some serious meds.

  8. Said this last time, yeah right. Even said it about PC2, then they couldn’t be arsed to fine tune all the cars for the tracks.
