OVERKILL has just revealed the Ultimate Edition for PAYDAY 2. According to the team, this version will include almost all previously released content. PAYDAY 2 owners will be able to upgrade to this version, and OVERKILL will remove almost all DLCs from Steam on June 8th.
OVERKILL also announced that all future updates for PAYDAY 2 will be released for free.
Do note that there will be some exceptions. The Ethan and Hila Character Pack will be available separately as well as any temporary campaign eg. the ‘Lootbag’ DLC or the Completely OVERKILL Pack DLC.
PAYDAY 2: Ultimate Edition will be released on June 8th and will feature +55 heists, 18 playable characters, 77 primary weapons, 51 secondary weapons and 82 melee weapons.
Last but not least, OVERKILL revealed that PAYDAY 3 is in a pre-production stage, and that it will share more details in the future.

What, this f*cking joke of a game still isn’t dead yet?
Just declare Time of Death already, & move on to Payday 3, ffs. And this time, don’t ignore what made the original so great in favour of wh*ring yourself out for maximum DLC profits, morons.
I’m confused. What is wrong with supporting it? Especially with free dlc
for many people here more dlc means they should wait more for scenes to crack new patches so they hate it
Yeah, that’s exactly the problem. That, that right there, that’s it, yeah. You really hit the nail with the hammer, the bullseye with the arrow, & all that other sh*t…..
Yeah, no.
“F*ck that broke d*ck piece of sh*t shill.”
don’t be mean, i can’t stand people who curse
When it originally launched 4 years ago, the game was sh*t compared to its predecessor. That in itself is bad, but hey, at least they patched it, right?
Sure, I agree. Unfortunately, they were only patching it so they could shore up their own profit margins, of course, since they were still actively pushing DLC back then (& by DLC, I mean massive f*cktonnes of micro-DLC the likes of which put Call of Duty’s map packs to shame in terms of how destructive they are/were).
But, that’s not even the biggest joke of this entire affair. See, as even as they were patching it, they were making promises that they wouldn’t implement micro-transactions……. At this point, I’ll give you one guess what they did 2 years ago.
After that particular fiasco, its already mediocre-grade reputation just completely tanked with the community, & as a result, Payday 2 just about died right then & there. Or, at least in theory, anyway.
To be entirely fair, I’ve heard Starstream has made some positive improvements to the game ever since they took over the IP last year, but honestly, by this point I think it’s really just too late. All of this effort just reeks of yet another attempt to revive something that should have been abandoned long ago, solely in order to shore up interest for Payday 3, which should have been put into production last year.
Well, that’s how I remember this story, anyway. Granted, it’s been a while, so feel free to correct me, anyone?
loved the first one but the second one was too much of an RPG for us :/
on the first one wed just use a high level save and voila, ready for 145+
Sure, on the one hand, they supported it post-launch. On the other, it should never have launched like that, in the first place. It’s akin to No Man’s Lie in that regard; will NMS be worth buying in another 2-3 years? Maybe. Either way, that doesn’t excuse how it launched, however.
And yes, the skins would have been fine, were they cosmetic, but, since they were not, the developers opened themselves up (& rightfully so) to massive amounts of “F*CK PAY TO WIN” allegations. Also, while the addition of post-launch content was great, the prices were mind-f*cking absurd, regardless of how often they put them on sale, especially when you factor in how barren the game was at launch, which with less greedy developers would mean “time to patch in some sh*t for free! – Or, well, at least once in a while, eh?”
DLC is fine, to a degree, & under certain situations. If it’s not cosmetic, then it affects the game in a negative manner, especially so on multiplayer games. If it costs too much & it just never stops coming, while the free content is just non-existent, that’s also another way to negatively affect the game. If they promise they won’t implement micro-transactions on top of it all, only to stealth them in there afterwards, that’s yet another hit, for a game that launched controversially, & never stopped being that.
Either way, no matter what, when you’ve reached the point wherein your DLC costs more than the base game itself, it’s seriously time to start thinking about free content, or scaling back the prices permanently, or something else, entirely, regardless of how often sales occur. When your DLCs reach twice the price of the base game, now you’re just being greedy, & when you reach THREE TIMES the base game, you’re just asking for your community to tell you to f*ck off.
Especially so when you’re not doing it with cosmetic sh*t, but with actual content. Either way, most importantly, you should NEVER throw in micro-transactions into that mix, especially not once you’ve already cleared the 1x base game price hurdle, because then you’re no longer asking, now you’re just begging for the “F*CK YOU’s.”
Not to mention what the game was like in its original launch state compared to its predecessor. See below post for more, if you want.
