Palworld feature-2

Palworld has sold one million copies in just 8 hours [UPDATE: 2 million in 24 hours]

Pocketpair released its “Pokemon with guns” game, Palworld, in Steam Early Access. And, in just 8 hours, the game has sold over one million copies.

Palworld is a game about living a slow life with mysterious creatures “Pal” or throwing yourself into life-and-death battles with poachers. Players can make Pals fight, breed, help with farming, or work in factories. Additionally, they can sell them off or even slaughter them to eat. Basically, think of it as Pokemon with guns.

As the developers noted, the game’s core systems, such as monster catching, battles, exploration, building and crafting, are already complete. Its Early Access build will also have more than 100 monsters, a vast open world, over 350 items, and more than 70 types of buildings.

From what I’ve seen, Palworld does not have a campaign mode. The game focuses on case building, crafting, and raising your pals. So, don’t expect a story-driven alternative to Pokemon. That’s not what Palworld is.

To run the game, PC gamers will need an Intel i5-3570K 3.4 GHz with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. Pocketpair recommends using an Intel i9-9900K 3.6 GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. The game will also require 40GB of free disk space. Plus, it will not offer an offline mode.

We’ve been telling you that there is a huge Pokemon crowd on PC. And the success of Palworld is proof of that. Now imagine what would happen if Nintendo released an official Pokemon game on PC.

Now while this is great news for Pocketpair, I won’t be playing Palworld. After all, I’m more of an SP player. Still, Pocketpair seized a great opportunity here, and that gamble paid off. So kudos to the team.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Nope, liars are going to lie and those who report lies are also liars. It’s just a form of marketing, there’s no independent proof of anything there. I was browsing steam last night and even before it was available for sale it was on the trending and top sellers etc list, total bs. Don’t believe almost anything this whole system spits in your eyes.
All these fairystories from interested parties about million this million that sales, snake oil salesman up on stage, justar even had a whole character and missions in rdr1 that are a good reference.

    1. You get prominent placement in Steam store by being on a lot of wishlists. Note how the trailer embedded in this article calls for people to wishlist the game. The advertising was well targeted at Pokemon fans and weeb RPG fans (note the anime looking girls and the font of the damage numbers). After release Steam looks at how fast you’re selling (winners win) and they also give extra exposure when you put the game on a significant sale (something like 25 or 30 % I believe). It’s not rigged, there are fairly well known mechanics to how Steam chooses games to promote. They don’t take favors from publishers, what they optimize for is simply to find games that already show the potential of selling to lots of players. Steam earns a cut on every copy sold so it’s in Steam’s best interest to advertise whatever is going to sell well, and to keep promoting games that appear like they will keep growing for a long time as well.

  2. There were times when 40gb Hdd had partitions with windows, softwares, and great games. Games with epic story and refined gameplay with beautiful soundtrack. All packed in just 1gb. Now, 20 years of evolution, we have this…

    1. Blame it on the engine like Unity and Unreal, they will include many garbage library file along with the shipped product

      1. this is actually not correct for unreal. there is actually at least 3 methods to evaluate file size. one is through its built-in file checker and debugger. the other method would be through its punishing processes.where you can manually filter out whole unused maps, mesh models, textures, and game data. it also features a pak file compressor located in the engine’s directory. which can also cut file sizes up to half. https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.27/en-US/API/Editor/UnrealEd/Settings/UProjectPackagingSettings/PakFileCompressionMethod/

so it’s still up to developers on how to optimize their game data.

        1. Thats what I meant, the options will always there, but they usually didint checkmarked it as default, so developer will ignore the options especially during constraint devs time and either forget or just didnt bother to change from the default method. Look at UE5 stutter, the options to compile shader upfront are there but many devs just ignore it

    2. you also had 240p cinematics, 212×212 textures, low bitrate audio and pretty much no open world games just tunnel or turn based rpgs, no voice acting etc. Your take is very uneducated and rose tinted with nostalgia.

      1. Well, I remember Hitman codename 47, Vampire the masquerade redemption, Splinter cell, Metal Gear solid, Resident evil, Dino crisis, Onimusha… and many more, pretty much have better quality cg movies, 256×256~512×512 texture resolution, very well done voice acting and varied genres of gameplay. So, I don’t know if you’re genuinely putting argument worth noting or just trying to look like a cool kid here.

    1. I think it’s funny because it’s more or less pokemon gun, but no way I’m playing this crap lol, not even for free

    2. you dont have to, its ok to not like things. But its actually funny game, pals have unique animations for everything and stay in character like depresso being very unenthusiastic in his work etc. Its also has some nice ester eggs and joke inside like h*rny pal that no longer mates with pals but also switched to humans. Its light-hearted parody of pokemon and survival games and even elder ring.
It actually plays and feels a lot better then it looks.

  3. Literally Who?
Half of it are probably kids and the other half are weebs (also known as child molesters).
Cut a weeb and a pedo bleeds

    1. its clear you are insane, you do know idiots that point finger usually are one to blame? i think you are pedo because its all you say everywhere.

You are sad parody of human being.

      1. Did I hit a nerve? Every time I point out that weebs are pedophiles, you’re one of the few people who consistently get upset.
I’d say statistically, there’s a 95 percent chance that you like to touch young children.
