Overkill’s The Walking Dead will not have any microtransactions

Overkill’s previous title, PAYDAY 2, was heavily criticized about the inclusion of microtransactions. Thankfully, though, it appears that the team has learned its lesson. During its recent livestream, Overkill confirmed that there won’t be any microtransactions or cosmetics in its upcoming The Walking Dead game.

As Overkill’s producer Saul Gascon stated:

“It’s not going to be… no microtransactions. You can find different skins for the characters by playing the game and you will unlock them right away. So if you see a cosmetic you’ll know that player really achieved something. It’s something special.”

According to Gascon, the game will ship with 45 weapons and around 200 mods to modify the guns. The game will also come out with four characters and more characters will be arriving post-launch, alongside expansions. These characters and expansions won’t be free though.

OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead releases on November 6th and its closed beta phase will be launched next month!

  1. John, they did not say no microtransactions. Quite the opposite actually. They said “It’s not going to be no microtransactions”. Two negatives means they counter each other. So it is going to be microtransactions…

    1. First thing I thought reading it. 😀

TWD series is one that hasn’t even begun to be milked.
      In the video game market.
Mobile sure (IDK if financially successful), but not console and PC.

Anyways, I can never get enough of zombies, it’s an itch…

  2. >pay 60$ for base game and 4 characters
    >pay 5-10$ dollars per extra character
    >sell dlc expansion passes with a few levels

people are dumb if they buy this. there gonna do like how they did in payday, there gonna add loot boxes eventually.
