Okami HD is coming to the PC on December 12th

Capcom has just announced that Okami HD will be coming to the PC on December 12th. According to the press release, this latest release with its renowned Sumi-e ink art style will now be even more breath-taking as the graphics have been updated to take advantage of modern high resolutions.

In Okami HD players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess who inhabits the form of a legendary white wolf Shiranui on a quest to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon and tyrannical monster responsible for turning the world into a ruined wasteland. Players must use Amaterasu’s magical abilities and arsenal of items, attacks and Celestial Brush techniques to restore the land of Nippon to its previous glory full of life and colour. Along the way, Amaterasu will be called upon to help a cast of quirky and intriguing characters and defeat a bevy of brutal enemies to rid the land of Orochi’s curse.

Players will be able to choose between playing in a modern widescreen format or the original 2007 release’s 4:3 ratio. Interactive loading game screens from the original game are also included, allowing players to earn bonus demon fangs which can be traded for in-game items.

Enjoy!

    1. Amazing trilogy I’d say, I remember this game being incredibly long. After a decently long adventure it seemed like it was ending, but then it kept going for what seemed like a whole second game, and then when you’re reaching the end of that, it happens AGAIN.

  1. Now that they’ve finished remastering pretty much all the Resident Evils and Dead Risings I think DMC is going to happen as well.

    1. Hm. Considering the slop job that was DMC HD, I’m not sure if I want CAPCOM to f*ck about with DMC some more.

On the other hand, yeah, sure, there is some room for improvement left, assuming CAPCOM does things right….. Especially if they actually fix DMC3SE, finally.

      1. Capcom has used QLOC in the past to do some great conversions for them, so maybe they’ll turn to them again.

And yeah, DMC3 is really, REALLY bad on PC. I bought it for £4 (when it was a newish release) and uninstalled it/returned it after 10 minutes because even on a low-res CRT display I could tell how ugly the pre-rendered cutscenes were (that, and trying to configure the controls was nigh on impossible).

    1. There is still some glitches tough, and not needing to use a controller is a plus. Also, it’s harder to achieve 8k in an emulator i guess…

      1. Sorry, but what is God Hand? I tried renting it at Blockbuster when I was kid but my parents said “NO.”

  2. Framerate is actually a realistic concern for this one; all previous versions of the game were stuck at 30fps as well, and the trailer doesn’t seem promising in that regard either.

  3. Keep the PS2 games coming Capcom! Devil May Cry 1-3 (with a redo of 3’s port, a la RE4), Viewtiful Joe 1&2, Onimusha, God Hand, RE Code Veronica…you had so many good games in those days.

  4. I want another PS2 game to come to PC remastered… I won’t name names… but I’ll just say this… “Dragon kick your a$$ into the Milky Way!”
