New stealth-oriented Assassin’s Creed game is reportedly in development

It appears that a new Assassin’s Creed game will release before the next main AC game, Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Codenamed “Rift”, this AC game will rely heavily on stealth mechanics, won’t be an open-world, and will target a late 2022/2023 release date.

According to Bloomberg, players will assume the role of Basim in this new AC game. Originally planned as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft appears to have turned it into a standalone game.

Ubisoft has not commented on this leak/rumor as of yet.

In other news, Jason Schreier claimed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in a pre-production phase. Ubisoft officially announced Beyond Good & Evil 2 in 2016. Then, in 2017, the team revealed the first in-engine demo from it. And then, during E3 2018, Ubisoft showcased the game behind closed doors.

Back in 2021, Tom Henderson claimed that the game has been in development hell. And, from the looks of it, he was right. The fact that the game is still in a pre-production phase means that we won’t be playing it anytime soon. In fact, I’m a bit surprised that Ubisoft has not canceled it yet.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. “this AC game will rely heavily on stealth mechanics, won’t be an open-world, and will target a late 2012/2013 release date.”

We’re going back in time? /s

  2. Beyond Good and Evil 2 needs to stay in Development Hell imo. It doesn’t even resemble BG&E. It should be named something else.

  3. LoL
Nowadays they have to explicitly mention that an upcoming “Assassins Creed” game is going to particularly focus on stealth.

    1. Ezio story is over, the best thing they can do is to forget about this franchise for ever, and do what dontnod do, go full woke, like that they can work in a very safe clorful dream like space and make depressed games that no one ask for, targeting depressed and ill people that has nothing to do with video games, and after the failure thier going to blame pirates.

  4. I like how they have to point out that it’ll be stealth oriented and won’t be open world. As good as the latest trilogy of game were (YMMV), they were far from Assassin’s Creed and should have been their own IP.

  5. Bring back it back to a slower, methodical stealth type game. Bring back Abstergo and templars. The problem is they could do all of that and more and the poz would still completely ruin it. it can’t be understated how badly woke hiring practices have ruined gaming on a technical and artistic level. As a lot of people here are saying, “soulless”.

    1. Game industry is growing bigger and bigger in every possible way, games have never been more technically advanced.
Please don’t talk out of your a*s.

  6. Only good games out of UBI in recent years have been the Anno series IMO even when the last iteration was a tad blander than the previous ones (still a quite good game thoo imo)

  7. ” won’t be an open-world”

    go on….

    “Codenamed “Rift”, ”

oh like oculus rift….WAIT…no dont tell me its vr.

  8. Meh, im done with anything Ubisoft, sick of there constant new layers of drm bogging down the games and to this day they havnt even removed any of them after all these years

  9. Agreed on Beyond Good and Evil 2. Just cancel it, again. They’ve built a whole planet to space travel system, possibly a whole solar system simulation, made a CGI trailer, showed gameplay of the big city and space environments, and after all that the state of the project is considered “pre-production”?? Who the hell makes a TRAILER for a PRE-PRODUCTION game? Madness. Ubisoft should just cancel itself entirely.
