Modder ‘Z00L’ has released the first beta version of his Counter-Strike 1.6 mod for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This mod will feature reworked maps, keep the improvements Counter-Strike:Global Offensive had over the years, and all that while keeping the nostalgia and feeling from Counter-Strike 1.6.
This mod aims to feature the balance from 1.6, while removing the bugs that were in 1.6 which were fixed in Counter-Strike:Global Offensive, keep the exact same maps as they were in Counter-Strike 1.6 and keep the improvements Counter-Strike:Global Offensive introduced.

ZOOL has launched a poll and according to its results, this mod will evolve into a mod that is built around what CS:GO improved, keep the nostalgia factor and fix the balance issues WITHOUT the addition of new weapons, playermodels, sounds, skins. Instead, ZOOL will remake the maps that will have an art style similar to Counter-Strike 1.6.

Just watched some of the videos on moddb. The author is using CSS and CSP (CSS graphics, 1.6 gameplay) maps which begs the question, what is the point of this project. If it’s not going to look better than CSP why not just play CSP?
