Warner Bros and Monolith announced today that Middle-earth: Shadow of War has been delayed to October 10th. The game was meant to be released this August, however – and in order to provide the highest quality experience – Monolith decided to delay the game a couple of months.
Monolith claimed that it will reveal more about its title during this year’s E3, so expect some new gameplay footage to emerge during this event.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands gameplay in every dimension, including the massive open world, the story, the RPG systems, and personal player stories of the Nemesis System.
In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, players wield a new Ring of Power and confront the deadliest of enemies, including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-earth.

Nice because I’m about to buy the first one (GOTY edition) for 4,50€ so more time to play it.
Good, it still needs a lot of polish
A bit odd how this now gets a delay and Scorpio is to launch around Oct time too…
Very odd….. >.>
Could be why they did it hey 🙂 , well as long as the PC version owns I don’t care. Now with the Scorpio soon to be released our PC baseline ports should be even better so its a win win.
The Scorpio is barely strong enough to do proper 4K on selective titles, it’s just an overstuffed PS4 Pro.
It won’t do sh*t for the PC, just like the Pro didn’t, either.
Will see, you have to admit its a million times better than a Xbox One’s hardware which is extremely week. Going from a XB1 to Scorpio is a massive jump so the console games baseline will go up.
With XB1 and Scorpio games that are play anywhere you are going to see a big difference. As for third party games they should benefit too since we have both the PS4 Pro and Scorpio now which should set a new baseline.
Will see but I am very hopeful that it will pay off for the PC crew with some time. Of course it all depends on the developers and how much they care so that you can’t control 🙁
I want to believe.
“you have to admit its a million times better than a Xbox One’s hardware ”
I absolutely do not, because it is not. Is it better? Absolutely. Is it substantially better? Meh. Is it a million times better? F*ck no.
“Going from a XB1 to Scorpio is a massive jump so the console games baseline will go up.”
No. Not until they start making Scorpio-exclusive games. Until then, the Scorpio is about as useful to the PC as the Pro, ergo, it isn’t. Developers will continue to build around the lowest common denominator, & that will continue to be the PS4 & the XONE, so these 4K-compatible consoles are just that; 4K consoles, ergo, irrelevant.
“With XB1 and Scorpio games that are play anywhere you are going to see a big difference…… the PS4 Pro and Scorpio now which should set a new baseline.”
See above.
What we all can agree on is: if it is a console port it won’t be held back by the Xbox One, it will be held back by Scorpio which is far better for PC gamers as we will get the Scorpio version with possibly some better enhancements.
With the Scorpio delay and if they are finished on schedule with the console version they can just use more time for the PC version or whatever they are focusing on.Its all speculation with what they are doing with this extra time.
” if it is a console port it won’t be held back by the Xbox One, it will be held back by Scorpio which is far better for PC gamers as we will get the Scorpio version with possibly some better enhancements.”
The Scorpio version….. You mean either full 4K support, or checkerboard 4K support, alongside a case-by-case basis marginally improved textures, lighting system, shadow quality, etc?
Yay.
” they can just use more time for the PC version or whatever they are focusing on.Its all speculation with what they are doing with this extra time.”
It’s Warner Bros. publishing it. They won’t “waste” their time improving the PC version, not when there’s DLC content to be made, instead.
I don’t mean 4k full support or checkerboard full support.
I mean that people expect Scorpio to look better than Xbox One in many aspects. and yes improved lighting yada yada.
Therefore the PC version is going to be better port stop crying play the PC version if you like it better.
Actually, I always see the difference between versions of games.
People like you complain about marginal improvements but I actually can see the improvements on my monitor. I remember when people said that the Dragon Age 2 HD textures did not make the game look better.
I tested it myself and I noticed it. I even notice the difference between Bioshock original and enhanced. I just have better sight than most people. I also have a really good monitor.
There’s a difference between something actually looking better, & marginal improvements, however, being the point. For that matter, you’re assuming the Scorpio has enough power in it to provide more than just XONE-grade graphics at a full 4K resolution alongside either 30 or 60 FPS, which is something we’ve yet to see for ourselves, & even if it does, the Scorpio’s announced specs are comparable to, what, a mid-range PC?
Ergo, the effect on high-end rigs & the PC versions (read; ports) in general will be minimal, at best, if not outright irrelevant. Also; congratulations, you can see the differences between Bioshock OG & Bioshock Remastered! Guess what – you just defined “marginal differences” right there. Does the “remaster” look better? Sure. Does it look substantially better? F*ck no.
Oh, but you have a good monitor, & 20/20 eyesight….. Yeah, that’s the problem everyone else has, definitely. >.>
You are assuming that Scorpio can’t do improvements. There is a lot of assumption going on in this thread.
The general public believes that a newer generation of Xbox should have some sort of improvements attached to it. If they play the xbox at the store where they showcase it and don’t see improvements then they won’t buy it.
But my first statement is accurate. We all can agree there will be improvements with a newer Xbox Scorpio since it is faster than Xbox one. The PC version port will be better due to higher system requirements on the Scorpio… its that simple.
Its true… ever since I upgraded to a 1440p monitor I seen even Xbox 360 ported games improve. I also have an IPS monitor that has better colour and has better sharpness than most monitors. It was an upgrade and I didnt even change the insides of my computer. Most people claim that if you run an Xbox 360 port on 1440 p you won’t see a difference since it was supposedly designed for 1080p or less.
But yes I do have 20:20 vision. My friend who had lazer eye surgery was told now he has 20:20 vision but I was still able to read something he couldn’t read.
In addition to my good vision I also have a good memory. I can remember what 1080p looked like even after swapping to 1440p.
Most people forget what their old monitor looked like but I remember the differences and can see them.
For instance when you load Bioshock Original and then load Bioshock Enhanced you probably don’t see anything because you can’t remember what the previous one looked like.
I don’t like to brag but I can also see a difference between Bluray content and 1080p content that is pirated. The Bluray discs are superior to pirated compression.
I’m “assuming” (since I’m making assumptions using actual facts), based on the announced hardware specifications, that the Scorpio is equal to a mid-range PC, which means it cannot do improvements, if they want to focus on “True 4K.” At best they’ll be able to get “True 4K” + 60 FPS out of games, anything else is a pipe dream.
Alternatively, we might get a couple of games that choose to take the PS4 Pro route & do checkerboard 4K in exchange for 60 FPS + some minor improvements, but those won’t be big enough to make a difference on the PC versions, so, again, irrelevant. If, instead the developers were to compromise & go for checkerboard 4K + 30 FPS, then we might see the Scorpio version looking like the PC version on High settings, at best. Even so much as expecting anything beyond that is just plain absurd.
“If they play the xbox at the store where they showcase it and don’t see improvements then they won’t buy it.”
Lol’d.
“We all can agree there will be improvements with a newer Xbox Scorpio since it is faster than Xbox one.”
Yes, & no. It will be stronger than the XONE, but its more powerful hardware becomes irrelevant if it’s all wasted on “True 4K” &/or 60 FPS instead of actually better looking games.
“ever since I upgraded to a 1440p monitor I seen even Xbox 360 games improve.”
Completely case-by-case affair; 720p games upscale “well” to 1440p, whereas 900p/1080p games end up a stretched out, blurry image. Regardless, “improve” is a stretch. The amount of pixels the X360 is generating haven’t changed due to the internal resolution locks imposed by the developers themselves, & as such, the image simply can’t “improve”, unless the monitor itself is rendering them better, which is probably what you’re really seeing.
“Most people claim that if you run an Xbox 360 port on 1440 p you won’t see a difference since it was supposedly designed for 1080p or less.”
“Supposedly”? There’s no “supposedly” about it. Most X360 games run at 720p/900p resolutions, period. This is a fact. Using a 1440p screen doesn’t change that, & it never will, even with the ones that do run at 1080p. The resolutions are internally locked, & console gamers have no control &/or power over that, period.
“For instance when you load Bioshock Original and then load Bioshock Enhanced you probably don’t see anything because you can’t remember what the previous one looked like.”
If only someone had invented screenshots for us to compare the two with, side-by-side…… Ugh! Also, when is someone going to invent split-screen?
Oh, & comparison videos! Because, I mean, yeah, there’s just no way whatsoever for anyone to compare the differences aside from, what was it? “load Bioshock Original and then load Bioshock Enhanced”….. right…………
“I don’t like to brag but I can also see a difference between Bluray content and 1080p content that is pirated. The Bluray discs are superior to pirated compression.”
No, sh*t, really? You don’t say! So, so, wait a second…… the Blu-Ray disc’s higher bit rate & decompressed audio files actually make a difference? OH MY GOD! THOSE BLU-RAYPHILES MOANING ABOUT 25GB DISC COMPRESSION WERE RIGHT?!
HOLY F*CKNUGGETS!
/facepalm.
P.S. There’s an “Edit” button right to the left of “Reply”, for the record.
The differences in Bioshock I noticed it more so when I actually played the game. The video compression for Youtube made it seem like less of a difference.
I actually still believe the Xbox Scorpio has better hardware and will have better image quality than Xbox One.
When I am talking about playing an XBOX 360 game I am talking about the PC port where you can select resolutions. You are quoting me wrong.
native 4k on a console #facts.
He is a really funny character that just takes quotes. At one point he is assuming that I’m assuming something. The only thing that I believe is the truth. The Scorpio will be faster and will have better image quality. And that just ticked him off.
“He is a really funny character that just takes quotes.”
It’s called responding to an argument. You should try it, at some point in time later on in your life, once you’ve grown up a little.
“At one point he is assuming that I’m assuming something.”
Don’t even know what to say to this. Do you even know what an “assumption” is? Actually, here’s a good example of two assumptions & a fact;
“The Scorpio will be faster”
Fact.
“will have better image quality.”
Assumption.
“And that just ticked him off.”
Assumption.
Says Microsoft.
#GiveProof.
you will have it in 6 days june 11 sunday xbox e3 show.
LOL!
Since when does E3 = proof?
E3 = sh*tshow.
especially that pc gaming shi* show thats the worst of the three..lmao
Guess that M$ check didn’t bounce back.
nope it will be a xbox scorpio launch title in native 4k on a console..
“in native 4k on a console”
Huh. It’s weird, I can definitely tell that there’s something wrong with that statement, but I can’t seem to figure out specifically what that is.
I wonder…..
Scorpio date is Q4(October December). It can launch on november or december . Delay has nothing to do with scorpio because all developers need to do is to make patch so it will have a little bit better graphics on scorpio. That why they no reaosn to delay because the ps4 pro and scorpio runs the ps4 and xbox one games they only get a patch to make them have little better graphics on the ”upgraded” consoles.
“Delay has nothing to do with scorpio because all developers need to do is to make patch so it will have a little bit better graphics on scorpio.”
Ever heard of a little something called a “Launch Title”?
?ut that not the reason to delay the game. It is not a xbox exculive. They should had released the pc version and the other versions on August and then just make a patch when Scorpio releases. Why delay the game on all platforms?
Because Microsoft bribed them to, maybe?
Meh. Time will tell once we get a more specific release date, more marketing material, etc. but it is a curious coincidence.
But in that case the would had delayed only pc and ps versions like they did with Rise of the tomb raider who came first on xbox 360 and xbox one and later on pc and ps4. But that not the case here because insteaod the game being released first on xbox one and scorpio and then on pc and playstations it still coming at same day on all platofrms. Do you understand what iam saying?
“But in that case the would had delayed only pc and ps versions like they did with Rise of the tomb raider”
After the disastrous scandal of epic f*cking proportions that that particular move brought down upon Square Turds? Really? Besides, this is no longer the Age of Console Exclusives. These days they have to do these things far more discretely than 2014.
Besides, different publishers, different IPs, different circumstances, etc. What with the Xbox One sales still being so absolutely sh*t, I doubt Microsoft would be very willing to cough up the money needed to keep the game Xbox-exclusive for several months, unlike 3 years ago.
It doesn’t matter if it releases first or at the same time, so long as it releases at the same time as the Scorpio. That in itself is more than enough to have analysts thinking “huh, that’ll give us some extra sales, especially if we push advertising that says it plays better on a Scorpio.”
But scorpio is still way behind any powerrful pc. It will play it only a littlbe bit better than xboxo one. Howevver console gamers are reazling now that consoles will never have the best gaming experience that something only pc can do. They will not get any more xbox scorpio sales by doing that. Their analysts must be stupid if they think this way. Any consoel gamer can bulit a high end pc now like Ryzen 1700 and GTX 1080TI and have a muvh better experience than scorpio. They dont need scorpio or any other console.
“But scorpio is still way behind any powerrful pc. It will play it only a littlbe bit better than xboxo one.”
And? You’re assuming the console plebeian masses give a sh*t about this fact, assuming they’re even aware of it in the first place. Don’t forget, the average consumer they’re targeting this at inhabits the pages of Xbox Magazine, not DSOG.
“Howevver console gamers are reazling now that consoles will never have the best gaming experience that something only pc can do.”
Certain portions of them, specifically, are coming to terms with this fact. Most others prefer to remain ignorant of it, or they just don’t care, as they’d rather sit at their couch with their pre-packaged lives than leave their established comfort zones.
“Their analysts must be stupid if they think this way.”
A. It’s Microsoft.
B. It’s the Video Game Industry.
C. See: History on both of the above.
“Any consoel gamer can bulit a high end pc now like Ryzen 1700 and GTX 1080TI and have a muvh better experience than scorpio. They dont need scorpio or any other console.”
And good luck convincing even 1 in 10 console gamers of doing that. This period, right now, is when console gaming is at its weakest; 3-4 years into a console cycle, which is exactly why they’re shoring up their fanbase with these faster refresh cycles; in order to keep the plebeians interested, instead of letting them slip through their fingers & onto the PC, as they did during the later years of the PS3 & the X360.
The Xbox Scorpio will be faster than the Xbox One and there will be image quality improvements. Exactly what I said earlier but for me personally I will see the improvements better than you since you tend to complain about it not being enough of a difference. Like I said i have better eye vision.
“but for me personally I will see the improvements better than you since you tend to complain about it not being enough of a difference. Like I said i have better eye vision.”
The arrogance is strong with this one.
Not to mention the delusion.
You are still making comments hahha… you don’t know what its like to have good vision. When everyone says I don’t see a difference… and I load up the game and I see a difference…
Its just me… and your eyesight can’t see what I see obviously. Your minor visual difference is a bigger difference for me.

You are watching the comments.
Basically, You’d be insane if you think that the Xbox Scorpio will not provide better image quality.
Why would they release a new console to not have better image quality?
Thats your delusion.
“Why would they release a new console to not have better image quality?”
Sh*t, I don’t know. Why would Sony bother to release a console that only does checkerboard 4K, knowing that Microsoft’s Scorpio would be stronger? (The Pro also only has marginal visual improvements, btw)
Why would Ninturdo release a console they knew was broken, & then try to cover it up by claiming “dead pixels aren’t an issue, they’re a feature! :D” (not to mention going cheap on the storage with 32GBs, like we’re in f*cking 2005 or some sh*t)
Why would Microsoft go on stage at E3 & announce the Xbox One with something as stupid as a mandatory, always-online Kinect SpyCam (not to mention everything else, like the 24-hour suicide check feature)?
Because these people are f*cking crazy, & they think we’re all morons who’ll buy whatever they push out, no matter what, how, when, if, or whatever.
Doesn’t bother me, I think its a good call. The game looks amazing, I don’t care how long it takes to complete it. Take your time guys don’t rush it. Day one for me, my PC is ready.
Day ome for me too.
Me also.
Ohhhh, I have the money for it already aside…… Oh well, as long as it comes out well.
Will this title be another of the badly optimized warner bros games?
