Deep Silver will officially reveal Metro 2039 on April 16th. However, it appears that the game’s story details have been leaked online. This is coming straight from the publisher, as the story details from an upcoming press release have leaked by IGDB.
In Metro 2039, players will journey into the dark heart of post-apocalyptic Moscow in a harrowing conflict for the very soul of the Metro. They will also assume the role of a Stranger who has to face a fanatical Spartan known as Hunter.

The year is 2039. For a quarter century, the last survivors of nuclear war have been locked in bitter conflict deep in the Metro tunnels beneath the poisoned city of Moscow. Now, finally, they have been united by a single leader, a fanatical Spartan known as Hunter.
But this is no peace: Hunter’s Novoreich regime rules through propaganda and fear, subjugating the population in the name of a new war for the surface against a dark and terrifying enemy.

As I said, Deep Silver will fully reveal this new Metro game on April 16th. Microsoft will host a digital-only broadcast event, specifically dedicated to it.
According to Microsoft, this event will offer a world-premiere look at the game. However, we don’t know whether we’ll get a CG trailer, an in-engine trailer, or a gameplay trailer.
