A lot of rumors have surfaced these past few months, suggesting that Konami may be working on a Metal Gear Solid Collection. However, PC gamers can already experience an HD Remaster of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance thanks to the Playstation 2 emulator, PCSX2.
A few days ago, ‘NoBigDeal La’ shared the following video, showcasing Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance running on PC via PCSX2 1.7.4. For this video, the YouTuber used an HD Texture Pack that you can download from here. And, as you will see, the game looks absolutely stunning with it.
What’s also important to note here is that PCSX2 supports K&M. As such, you can play MGS2 with the Mouse and Keyboard. Truth be told, the game still displays the original PS2 buttons. However, this is a game-changer for everyone that wanted to replay these classic PS2 games with K&M.
Do note that the third-person mod we shared in November 2022 is not compatible with the game’s PS2 version. It’s a bummer, so let’s hope that someone will also release an HD Texture Pack for the PC version. Oh, and an unofficial patch with some QoL improvements would be a welcome addition. Until then, though, you can enjoy this classic MGS game in full HD via PCSX2.
Have fun!

There leaks every year about Metal Gear Solid Remasters/Remakes, and they always tend to be fake.
So unless Konami itself says anything, the reports so far are also fake, don’t expect any Metal Gear Solid Remaster/Remake any time soon, Konami is not even invested in AAA releases.
As we all know, Konami has shifted to mobile.
I thought they shifted to slot machines
No,
MGS5 was the best one and I’d rate that game 4/10
The rest of them are a pile of dog shet.
I rate your posts a pile of cat feces.
I bet you think about cat feces a lot ahmed.
I bet you smell worse than cat feces, pajeet.
Isn’t calling smelly Indians/Pakis out a self destructive move achmed?
Being close to your godawful smell must be self destructive indeed.
Stop with the team kill. Both of you smell like how you look, dirty.
lol at you talking in the 3rd person, should be “both of us”, not that i agree with your self loathing.
nah 3’s the best 10/10. what’s up with your hatred with this series goat?
You can’t use the mouse to aim so 0/10
lol you hate the game because you can’t use the mouse to aim. that’s retarded and clearly says your lack of skill with such a simple game on a controller is too difficult for you. this isn’t Call of Duty moron, it’s not about mindless violence and kill streaks. you don’t and shouldn’t even need a mouse to play this. I’ve never seen such a dumb and ridiculous reason for not liking the game.
If you’re a console gamer, the probability of having a low IQ gene in your family is above 90 percent, and here’s why :
If you have a low IQ, you are most likely doing jobs that people like me and my parents never have to do. That basically means you’re poor, and you can’t afford a gaming PC for your low-IQ offspring.
So,
1- Don’t act like you chose to play on consoles, you and your whole family were too poor and stupid and didn’t have any choice.
2- You have to be very stupid to gaslight yourself into believing you’re enjoying tank view/controls and aim assist.
cool opinion bro. nobody cares. you shouldn’t even bother posting because nobody is going to stroke your ego with such an unpopular opinion, seriously, you’re doing it wrong. now go back to minecraft.
You’re having a meltdown over a video game, get a grip.
Some really good textures, but why not mod the PC version? Looks like Ps2 emu modding is really taking it off. You can also emulate the rpcs3 and xenia remasters.
Some other nice texture packs are featured there. I just downloaded those for Tekken 5, Tekken Tag Tournament, Gran Turismo 3 and Ibara.
Thank you, I’m glad you’re enjoying my packs 🙂
Hi there to all, for the reason that I am genuinely keen of reading this website’s post to be updated on a regular basis. It carries pleasant stuff.
Pretty! This has been a really wonderful post. Many thanks for providing these details.
You’re so awesome! I don’t believe I have read a single thing like that before. So great to find someone with some original thoughts on this topic. Really.. thank you for starting this up. This website is something that is needed on the internet, someone with a little originality!

why not just take the native pc version ?
Visuals aren’t 1:1 to PS2 unfortunately. Reflections and shadows are broken.
Yeah, it even has better mod support and better mods.
The PC modded version of mgs2 looks amazing. should have used that instead. Not a fan of pcsx2…
Unpopular opinion: MGS is dumbed-down garbage for console gamers.
We PC gamers had the Splinter Cell series, which is – still – vastly superior in every way possible. The first three games are timeless masterpieces.
I discovered this series actually quite late, AFTER playing the first Splinter Cell in 2003. Which might explain my disappointment. After finishing SC, I gave a try to MGS, and I told myself after a few hours “what the hell is this child’s game?”
Frankly, I never understood the love for this series.
I don’t remember it was even a big deal in the 90s, even before Splinter Cell and the rise of stealth games.
It became some kind of cult only after many years, God knows why…
I feel like it’s one of those games which became popular thanks to memes…
We’ve always had so much better stealth content on PC anyways…
It’s just sad that nowadays, it seems that so many people have completely forgotten about other PC stealth games, and every time we talk about that category, they just repeat like sheep “dduuuurh metal gear soliiiiddd duuuurh”.
Being in awe of MGS when you’re a PC gamer is like being in awe of Mario Kart when you could play Assetto Corsa or whatever other great racing game/simulation on PC.
Bring on the downvotes!??
Nobody cares.
Splinter Cell released on consoles too and the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1 kickstarted the stealth genre. But ok, seems you’re incredibly ignorant so I won’t argue with you.
Thank you for this article and linking to my texture repo on GBATemp. It’s really nice to see that people are interested in these packs.
PCSX2 version is cool but you can use RPCS3 with better models and textures through the HD Collection adding MGS 3 and Peacewalker to the mix!
