LMAO WHOOPS what a total waste of time, resources and money.

  2. Will they require a Origin account too? I hope not. A bad thing too is that they will probably remove the originals from stores so they can’t be purchased. Fortunately I already have them.

  3. Not gonna lie, this reveal trailer could be using the original versions of the game and I would believe it.

Doesn’t even look like there’s ambient occlusion added.

    1. They greatly improved the character textures if nothing else. I remember them looking horrible even on PC with huge blocky lines. That is cleaned up.

  4. O.K. I went back and look at some original screens, turns out they actually did a lot here. I didn’t remember the original trilogy looking that bad, but wow, yeah it doesn’t look great now. They’ve improved the lighting, models, textures, adding lots of effects, shadows, improved and added shaders and a few other things.

      1. because they both feel awful to play and the combat looks like 4th of july fireworks instead of actual weapons. I don’t have a problem with sci-fi games, look at how alien franchise handles weapons then compare it to these garbage generic games.

        1. Whenever I think about what was good about ME its never the weapons. That said its still one of the best franchises I’ve ever played and hasn’t been replicated in any way since.

  5. Is it me or the regular games with ALOT mods installed look better than this? looks like a lazy job to sell the trilogy on the new consoles.

        1. I remember that Femshep poll before the release of ME3 and how Bioware made a 3D model that actually looked worse than the artworks.

          1. There was a contest for choosing between candidates for femshep in the cover afaik or something like that. Yeah the art is so much better…but then you see what they did to Yvonne Strahovski’s face with Miranda and suddenly makes sense.

      1. Agreed, they showed some footage of 1…and the suit looks eh…fine (and i was expecting more footage from the first game since it should be the one with the more work put on when it comes to visuals).
But you compare it with the work made by modders and is years behind when it comes to detail and quality. Oh, and the mods are free.

    1. Yeah, against vanilla it looks “better”…it should…the game is a decade and half old.
Now compare it with a modded version…the textures alone are better. I could argue that i prefer the lighthing of the original, looks more natural and less blurry, the remaster makes everything look blurry and those lens flares…JJ Abrams did the Remaster? (i know since ME2 lensflrares were a thing…but they went full ret*rd on the remaster it seems)
EDIT: now that i saw more comparisons, i can understand the changes in the first game specially, they want to make the games look more cohesive visually…so 1 looks closer to 2 (being more darker and orange…like that, i miss the 2005 era of brown games /s ).
Looks like great value for CONSOLE players if they ask 30 bucks for this, that’s a lot of content,,,on PC? only for people that never experience this games or dont want to mod them. Outside of that it looks like cashgrab.

      1. The latests versions of the ALOT mod also alter the lighting…of course is still under an older version of UE3 but the difference is noticeable.
But this remasters change the art design/visual a lot and the comparisons show that, so i dont see the point of the comparison beyond personal preference. I prefer the design of the original.

  6. These low effort remasters are useless for PC gamers who can already play the old releases at 4K + texture packs.

  7. EA has done the math and figured out making remasters are cheaper than making new games. Already on Steam top seller list 🙁

    1. The series has a huge fanbase..even with Andromeda happening…not a surprise, they already confirmed a ME4 after this anyways.

        1. Preordering anything digital is idiotic, dont get me wrong…but your average Joe is an idiot when it comes to this thing…and buying nostalgia is common nowadays, so not be surprise by that.
CP77 is a special case of a trainwreck, one for the history records.
I dont see the same happening to this tho, unless the remasters are broken or run like crap…which i doubt (they dont look like they are pushing anything to be honest).

          1. Then why you bring Cyberpunk 2077? i was trying to understand your comment bringing the preorder angle, but now you have to explain the reason to me.

          2. One could argue seeing how much the remaster sells determines how much they will invest in the new one. So they are trying to guilt fans into funding the next game

          3. Most probably, but it makes sense bussiness wise…after Andromeda your next thing is going with the safe choice…see how that goes (how much money it makes) and then proceed to what you actually should release if you want to move the IP forward (in this case, revive it from the corpse of MEA)

          4. One could say they made the same assumption with Andromeda but they were proven wrong so it will be their funeral if they choose to double down.

          5. Exactly. But with the trilogy they know it will sell (even if the remaster is subpar, the fans will buy it and the next game too anyways)..i can see them putting a cliffhanger on the third game to promote ME4…
Andromeda cashed a little bit in nostalgia but it was on the side..they wanted to start a new trilogy with that (LOL)..

          6. Yeah, but this is UE3…not even 4, the only worrying thing is that they are doing real time reflections on a separate rendering, so the scenes are rendered twice just for that.
And also you remember how Arkham Knight ran on launch (granted, that was pushing UE3 a lot…i dont see that in this remasters).

        2. EA aren’t CD Projekt Red. They churn out games like clockwork (for better or worse). If they’re announcing it now, I’d say we have 2-3 years to wait max.

      1. That’s enough really. If “same but better” checks at all at release, wait for it tto go into discount and call it a day. Wouldn’t expect much more about a franchise that is not that old.

  8. These low effort remasters are useless for PC gamers who can already play the old releases at 4K + texture packs.

    1. The textures from the mods from the get go have more work put into them, that’s why they look better than this Remaster.
As for the rest…well using an newer version of UE3 can help you with that, the lighting is doing a lot of “favors” to the visuals…this feels like another Crysis/Saints Row 3/NFSHP/Burnout Paradise scenerario. Could be worse, like the Arkham collection

  9. Currently doing a Trilogy run. There really is no point in this package aside from perhaps seeing what they did on Mass Effect 1. I read it was more of a remake then a remaster. I just played that game and it’s so rough even with mods. This package caters more to consoles. Can’t say I’d spend the money on it till it was dirt cheap down the road. The reworkings of ME1 might be worth the investment in a steep discounted sale for a replay in a year or 2 for me

    1. Blackwashing? I didn’t see them change any of the characters.
The universal female Shepherd is just making her look the same in the first game as she did in the 2nd and 3rd, that’s all I got from the video at least. Adding some black hairstyle options is probably some dumb SJW stuff, but it could be a lot worse.

I’m a sodomite for wanting to play Mass Effect now? LOL

  10. Hope its good but wont hold my breath, bioware are basically an empty husk of their former selves. Strange that everything EA touches just wither and dies – Its like a plague and so many once studios have succumbed to that disease and just died (Bullfrog, Westwood, Pandemic just to mention a few in a big list).

Will wait for proper reviews (not the first wave paid/sponsored ones as that unfortunately often create bias in the less honest journalists)

  11. I never played a single ME game!
Maybe its time now, but I know so many big spoilers from the story 🙁

In any case, I will compare the original + mods with this and see which one looks better, and maybe pick that for my playthrough.

  12. This is Hot Pursuit Remastered (Re-Release) all over again. And yet EA is super confident about BioWare’s established roadmaps for the upcoming sequels, which is basically a middle finger from EA to the playerbase and thumbs up for the shareholders and other investors. Don’t believe in any of this crp.
