Mass Effect: Andromeda – PC version will feature a FOV slider

The first PC gameplay video of Mass Effect: Andromeda was released a couple of weeks ago and, to be honest, there was one thing that almost ruined the entire experience. The camera viewpoint. That damn camera was so close to the main character that it almost made me sick. Therefore, I was delighted to hear that the PC version of Mass Effect: Andromeda will feature a FOV slider.

According to the lead designer of Mass Effect: Andromeda, a FOV slider will be featured in the PC version of the game.

So that’s extremely good news to everyone I guess. At least now I will be able to explore the environments (without guessing or imagining what’s around me) and eventually enjoy the damn game.

Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21st.

    1. Blame their potato CPU’s for that. Same reason this game looks to have limited stuff on screen. They have not even showed our companions with us in a fight yet. Prob will drop the framerate under 30 on consoles like Witcher 3 did.

      1. Absolutely nothing is confirmed though, beyond there being a UI element that changes FOV. We don’t know the range. The way FOV is treated in the games industry is equivalent to having a “FPS slider” that goes from 20 all the way up to 45. You’d laugh if a console port was praised as “totally a real PC game” with this feature, but it’s the reality when it comes to FOV.

      2. I’d rather take a benchmark article from journos instead of the above.

Benchmarks tell me what’s under the hood at the same time, so a company giving standard info isn’t anything to get excited or congratulate for. It’s a standard plain and simple, no need to hype, no need to excuse the exclusion, because it should be there in the first place.

      1. SJW this, regressive that, fascist left, neo-politan knicker bocker glory-hole that. The Internet has turned into an even bigger hole, the past few years, with everyone being labeled for opinions, and thoughts. Come join me on the fence, where I’m just sat here looking down at everyone laughing about it all 🙂

        1. Bet you felt really good about yourself when typing that.

Look at you two, j*rking each other off, liking each others posts, on your high horses trying to feel good about yourselves and acting like you’re better.

The reality is that you’re simply too stupid to even pick a side, so you do these mental gymnastics in order to think that you’re better. Pathetic.

    1. That can’t be a slider, middle ground is not allowed.

That would be a toggleable SJW option, ticked by default, and if you untick it the game just bricks your computer and Bioware brags on social media about how many fascist computers they’re bricking.

  1. Where did he say there’d be a slider, could mean an Ini setting.
He just said you could change the FOV, on PC, not the method used.

    1. That would be beyond ridiculous, as we all know full well that Frostbite is a fully PC-capable (see: Battlefield, Battlefront, etc.) game engine. All it takes is developers who aren’t Giant Mega-Conslow C*nts, really.

Sadly, I can actually imagine this being the case, unfortunately >.<

      1. My point was, the reporting of sliders, without any evidence, was wrong.
Saying they exist, without proof is misleading.

“PC gamers can change the FOV”, is all the evidence proves, the article should only say that, especially in the headline.

  2. If there isn’t an option to have no FOV, so it’s just a black screen, then this game is ableist. And racist.

  3. I’d imagine this is a feature that’s easy to implement for most games on Frostbyte so good to see it here. Especially given that, based on the footage we’ve seen, this game really, REALLY needs it if you’re playing on a monitor.

  4. I hope they will bring DX12, mgpu and async support but i guess it will just be another dx11 port ( with gimpwork features) .

    1. Nah, this is an Nvidia title like Mirror’s Edge 2. Nvidia paid to keep DX 12 off it. Who cares anyways. Bioware is long dead and these impostors might implement a gender slider before EA shuts down their studios other than Bioware Austin which just makes SWTOR crap. Maybe they will transition this Bioware into a mobile game maker who makes dumb “weird” dating games for social shut in, tumblr activists. It is what I would do with the company and these IP’s. That is all they are good for or worth at this point. ME is damaged goods.

  5. HILARIOUS THAT HAVING AN FOV SLIDER IS CONSIDERED NEWS NOW TOP KEK. THIS SHOWS HOW PC OPTIMIZATION FOR MODERN GAMES IS GENERALLY SH*T.
