Electronic Arts and DICE have released a free trial for Mass Effect: Andromeda. This trial offers 10 hours of gameplay for free, however there is a catch. Naturally, PC gamers will have to download this free trial from ORIGIN so if you boycotting this particular distribution platform, you won’t be able to play it.
Mass Effect: Andromeda’s free trial will let you play unlimited Multiplayer and play through to the first planet in single-player mode. This basically means that players won’t be able to progress further in the game’s single-player mode, even if there are more free hours left to the trial.
In order to celebrate this announcement, EA released a new trailer dedicated to this free trial that can be viewed below.
Enjoy!

Yeah, the reasons why I haven’t already bought this are not because I just haven’t tried it, so I’ll pass. Hopefully they learn from this experience and the next Mass Effect game (however long away that will be) will be better.
They killed mass effect with this garbage
I do wonder if there will be another Mass Effect after this. It may go the way of another Sci Fi series published by EA that I really enjoyed, Dead Space. It’s all about money with EA and if ME:A doesn’t return what EA considers a good profit then the PR will be that we haven’t given up on ME but we will likely never get another ME game. iirc EA said that if Dead Space 3 didn’t sell 5 million copies at $50 each then they considered the game a failure because of development costs and marketing costs. ME:A may recoup the 40 million dollar development cost and the millions of dollars spent on marketing hype but whether it makes what EA considers a good profit is unknown right now.
I know that it takes money to live in this world. We all want money and more of it to enjoy life and I don’t begrudge EA wanting to make a good profit but they do wreck Developers reputations and much liked games series with their poor business decisions. In this case EA shouldn’t have let an inexperienced development team develop this game and as usual EA shouldn’t have pushed them to release the game before it was ready and have them patch it later.
In any case this game seems destined for the bargain bin at $10 sooner than most AAA games.
There will be another one. They’ll wait a few years, does a press release with the mandatory “we listened to our fans”, and deliver a quasi decent game that will not meet their expectations…… mostly because they’ll pour so much money that they’ll only stat making a profit at 3 million copies sold.
LMAO the desperation
I mean, if people wanting to keep their jobs is desperation then yeah probably. This is pretty bad for the developers you know.
And why exactly should we care about developers putting out horrible products? These guys should clearly be in another line of work.
have to partially blame EA as well
Absolutely.
Hire idiots, get idiot results. Have bad oversight, have bad results. Etc. etc. etc.
It’s probably the publisher pushing them to release it sooner. It’s also well documented that they were forced to change engines, change direction after having no direction, and later the time/budget was cut suddenly. I’m not blaming the developers on this one.
The internal issues were just that, internal issues. It’s not Edmonton’s fault that Montreal was so incompetent they had to step in & oversee the f*cking work.
EA may have been the one who hired these people, but that doesn’t change the fact that management was blatantly incompetent, which is something nobody did anything about for years on end. As a result, to my eyes that means they’re both to be faulted.
If you’re terrible at your job…. do something else. It is not other people’s job to sustain your ego.
No one can do their job well with terrible management leading the charge.
Then support good studios and they’ll hire those talents.
It is absolutely maddening to see someone who believes that absolutely terrible games should be bought to support a terrible work. We don’t know that it was just terrible management. We know we got an insultingly bad product.
Why is this even on the table to discussion? There are so many talented people out there, so many good games deserving of our support, and here are, debating the merits of giving money to the studio and producers that made this. NO, as my father used to say: “Be good, get good or F#ck off!”. This is a enormous industry growing even more, game devs are in demand. If there was any talent in this lot, they’ll find work somewhere else. That is a big “IF”, because I bought this game and I’m happy it did poorly. I feel dirty for giving money to people who gave me this in return. I feel like I almost made the industry I care for a bit worst.
“I feel like I almost made the industry I care for a bit worst.”
You did. Feel bad, be ashamed, call the Nuns & have them ring the bells & all that shtick.
Or, alternatively, learn your f*cking lesson & don’t do it again 😛
That’s a terrible thought for anyone. It’s not like they were deliberately making a game that was sub par.
No, indeed, they were just too incompetent to shape themselves up.
Which is the base of the problem with this studio. Had they handled the cancerous portion of their people earlier, they may have saved the game, the studio & their careers both, but no, they were too busy being morons.
As such, moron be, moron gets. So long & good riddance.
You don’t know any of these people, so your assumptions are worthless.
It was not an unfunded assumption. We go the evidence pointing to that exact thing. So it is not a worthless assumption. 1 person, 100; it doesn’t matter. It is their fault alone and let the market decide their worth now. Good devs will find work without a problem.
I’m pretty sure I read the same Polygon article that you did, which clearly stated some idiot decided they should switch modelling software mid-way through the development cycle, thus negating all the work they’d done up to that point, or something as equally moronic.
That’s not an assumption, that’s a fact. If you want to call it worthless, that’s your right to have that opinion, but for that matter; your assumption that they’re not idiots is also worthless, since you don’t know them either.
Well when you hire based on cultural diversity instead of talent this is what happens
Or alternatively, when you hire based on how cheap someone’s salary is going to be because they’re a fresh, inexperienced college graduate, instead of an actually seasoned somebody.
This only seems to happen when said company is in dire straits of trying to sell more copies. Coming from EA that’s rich.
I’ll bite. I’ve been wanting to give this a shot, and honestly, Origin does it’s job as well as any other. Off to the races I go.
please share your experience, it looks vivid as most promos do these days. If it was polished to begin with and they offered this trial, or “demo”, I’d wonder what people would be complaining about with such feverish dis-contempt next?
Reports indicate they’re actually only polishing the first 10 hours, with the rest of the game being as f*cked up as ever.
I really wouldn’t be surprised.
they’ll have to pay ME to play this horribly codded SJW infested game
see how desperate EA gets? first they remove denuvo, and now this
Bioware’s time is short, the gun is already loaded…
“Where are we going PapEA?”
Next for free “On The House” and no one gives a f@ck. Maybe SJW own the f@cking media but not our souls.
I got it on GOG, but if I like it, I’ll may end up buying it. Does anyone know why they’re giving it away? Good on then and great for us 😀
Edit: I know why now. They’re releasing a new game named Sundered. Seems really good. The trailer looks good.
10 hours to let people know not to buy it.
hahahahahhaha no
Desperation.
“Electronic Arts and DICE” should be Bioware, not DICE, but I might be wrong.
Jezus it can be full story mode free trial I wouldnt play it lol
Ill pass, Bioware RPGS are always filled with the same pathetic, cringe worthy SJW crap, I still never played ME3 because of it.
The amount of care for this game is so low, that they removed denuvo and no one bother cracking the latest version, becuase no one cares.
Ummm… This trial has already been available on origin for months. How is this news ?
YOU GET DISAPPOINTED, YOU GET DISAPPOINTED, AND YOU GET DISAPPOINTED! EVERYONE GETS DISAPPOINTED…..
Might as well make it free-to-play at this point.
in b4 they put it on free games on the house
