Lionhead Studios Closes Down, Fable Legends’ Development Ceased

Microsoft announced today that it intends to close Lionhead Studios, and that the development of Fable Legends has been ceased. Fable Legends was one of the first games that was announced with DX12 support and cross-platform play support between Xbox One and PC.

As Microsoft stated:

“After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.”

And that is that everyone. Fable Legends is not coming out anytime soon.

      1. Why jesus christ dude? I was told over and over again the same thing “you are newb you suck at the game”

Well mornons i finished the game, the final boss was easier than the first one and yes it is an awful game. Also i played dragons dogma remaster so yoy may got a point there and i prefer the witcher for the lore that you claim is better in dark souls.

        morons

        1. For some reason, you replied in the wrong thread.

Dark Souls get’s easier the more levels you gain. That’s action rpg’s for you. The Witcher and Dragon’s Dogma’s strenght lies elsewhere. Dark souls was made for combat and exploration.

Also, you are a newb and suck at the game.

  1. I felt like the last Fable was kind of weird. They went on with the latest multiplayer trend and I feel like that’s where they lost. For many of us Fable was our childhood. It’s kind of sad.

  2. I see MS is already starting to pull its funds out of the whole “turn the PC into a second Xbox” strategy. Now the question is, what is their contingency plan? Will they delay the whole affair another couple years and then start again, like they did when “Windows Live” failed? And how will they take petty revenge on us for having taste and sense this time? Will they cancel some more ports of console games? Oh no, the horror 😀

MS are exposing themselves as a one trick pony and their one trick doesn’t work on us.

  3. My condolences to everyone at Lionhead Studios. I’m sure it is heartbreaking to see one of your projects get crushed by the monolith that is Microsoft.

  4. hardtimes at Microsoft. they lose big on console war i guess? that’s why MS is stupid. putting all eggs in a basket and gave PC gamers the middle finger more than a decade.

  5. Those poor talented people who works for that re*arded company. leave PC alone, F’ it, leave Gaming Alone M$.

  6. That studio was kind of dumb. Its nothing like the former one, the one that actually made good games. As harsh as it is, i can really see why they close down. Oh and one less game to make me go to DX12.. great.

Shame they had to work so long on a game that wont ever get out tho. That must sucks big time.

Some good news tho. Vulkan support was finally patched in with the latest Nvidia drivers. I cant wait to see some Source 2 game using it. Even if its Dota 2.

  7. Hope everyone can find work again! I am sure Gamasutra will have something to say on it. The worst is when you pour your heart into something only to find out your project is canceled and your out of work!
