La Quimera feature-3

La Quimera has been quietly delayed, no new release date

Reburn has announced on its Discord server that La Quimera has been delayed. Right now, the game does not have a new release date. However, Reburn stated that it will issue an official update via its social channels in the future.

Reburn has also lifted the review embargo for La Quimera, so I can share now some of my impressions. And, I’ll be honest here. In its current state, La Quimera has major issues that need to be addressed.

Let’s start with the graphics. They are nowhere close to the game’s promo screenshots. The promo screenshots showcased a game that could compete with a lot of modern-day titles. In reality, La Quimera looks like an old-gen game. It looks bad. I don’t know whether the devs will be able to improve the graphics. Right now, though, this is a really underwhelming-looking game.

Not only that but for some strange reason, the game was constantly using all of the cores of my AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Normally, this would be a good thing. However, no matter what the resolution you use, the CPU was always maxed out. Even when I paired the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D with the NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti, the game was still using the CPU at 100%. That was even at 4K/Epic Settings where I was GPU-bound. I seriously don’t know what the hell the game is doing, and why it’s hammering all the cores of the CPU. It makes no sense.

And there were some awkward bugs that could systematically occur. For instance, after five minutes of gameplay, the game would lock the framerate to 30FPS. To resolve this, I had to enter the game settings, set the framerate to 60FPS or 120FPS, and then revert back to Unlimited. Oh, and did I mention that you can’t access the main menu with the “ESC” key? Instead, you have to press the “P” key.

To put it simply, the game was not ready for release. This is also why I haven’t published our PC Performance Analysis. I was waiting to try the launch version before publishing it. And I only do this in games for which their review codes have major issues.

So, I’m really glad the devs have delayed it. I know that some gamers were looking forward to it. However, I did warn you about a possible delay in my previous article. The writing was on the wall.

Stay tuned for more!
