Yesterday, Voksi surprised everyone with his bypass for DOOM. And – as we have guessed – that very same method was in Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Inside. Yeap, while these are not proper ‘cracks’, they are working methods via which players can play the aforementioned games.
In just a day, Voksi was able to use his method and create bypasses for Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Inside.
This method takes advantage of DOOM’s demo appID and tricks Steam into ‘thinking’ that gamers are playing that demo instead of the real games.
As we’ve said and before, we won’t allow any links to the cracks. We are pretty sure that most of our readers will be able to find them themselves.
It will be interesting to see whether Valve will react quickly in order to fix this issue. Right now, these “cracks” exploit one of Steam’s weaknesses, meaning that it’s up to Valve to fix it.
Either way, Voksi’s method may open the door to some proper cracks for all Denuvo games.

Exactly this, remove the DRM from demo, it no longer has appid to use for other games….there fixed. But, if it works for the demo, you could theoretically just buy one of the paid games and use it’s appid instead I’d think. Buy doom on sale, get all the games haha.
yeah wondering why it has to be doom demo. Seems it could be any free to play game even. Maybe ID did make some mistake on the demo that caused this.
Creating demo of doom was strange idea. For many years crackers use demos to baypass security protections. Demo is free so its perfect example to crackers how to baypass any DRM

Being a person who likes to try and play the game before I get it I like to get a crack copy first but I’ll say I would feel so bad if I didn’t pay for it if the game is fun to me. Like fallout 4 I did torrent it but to me the game was just to much fun and I knew I’d play it for a endless time so I bought it for 45$ after an hour of play time. Personally PC gaming is already cheap people need to stop stealing games. But if they just had a service for the PC like they do for consoles to rent games I personally believe I’d never in my life would torrent a game and I also think others wouldn’t either.
What’s so hard about Steam offering a way to rent some games not all but some bigger games like fallout, GTA, BF? Would 3rd party devs rather make nothing or something?

We live in a more modern time however. I actually think for quality games dev’s would make more money with a rent and then buy option. Even more so for multiplayer games.
Was actually sadden to find out that orgin has something called access and it offers to play games for just 4.99$ a month. I bet for many PC gamers would pay 15-20$ a month to get many AAA games. They could make a bronze, silver, gold package for like 7.99$, 14.99$, 19.99$ a month as well.
Many ways Steam and dev’s could find ways to make more money that’s for sure. A lot of modern gamers don’t even play their older games that much and they just set in the library of steam so they could take off older titles after awhile.
Anyways Orgin also offers trials that last like up to 10 days heck i’d be happy with just 3. Never in my life did i think a company like EA would do such a thing they must be desperate i only found out by wanting to play Simcity again.

Definitely don’t think that this will open the door to proper cracks. Goddamn, once again Denuvo is proven unbeatable. They have to find weakness in steam just to get pass it.
Well any crack is made by finding a weakness. This proves it is beatable.
But this will be more of a Steam weakness, since still relying on it for the thing to work. Denuvo itself still working fine, no fiddling with exes and what not.
This is the meaningful difference between a crack and a bypass. This is a bypass because the “module” of Denuvo remains undefeated. It’s another dependent layer (Steam) which was hacked. So sure, you could say that Denuvo was indirectly defeated by disabling it from the outside, but it’s more accurate to say that it was bypassed, and it will be back in force if the Steam exploit is fixed.

No, this is Steam store weakness. Ubisoft use own store Uplay which is safe. Any developer can use Uplay, Origin or Windows Store and will be safe from this bypass. Only developers use Steam store have a really big problem because all games protected by Steam+Denuvo now can be bypassed. Best choose for all developers is remove their games from Steam and use any other store.
A weakness can can be fixed with a simple update… All it is… is a exploit. Nothing more nothing less
And people can use old unpatched version of Steam to play cracked games for free. For developers best way to protect is to use more secure store: Uplay, Origin, Windows Store or any other store safe from this bypass.

No. They target Steam store because of security hole: “free doom demo with denuvo”. Now crackers can bypass denuvo on all Steam games using “doom demo exploit”. Other shops don’t have “doom demo” so are secure. For developers easiest solution is remove their future games from Steam and use another more secure store

This exploit only works for Steam games. Other stores like Uplay are safe from this bypass

Excellent! Again, guilty until proven innocent is never ok. These companies need to figure out how to deal with criminal aholes without involving me or virtual gestapo asking for my papers and creeping around my property. Their business is not my problem just like my hard work on coding my own teams’ IPs is not their problem, nor do I ever expect it to be.
Also, I’ve been unfortunate enough to have slept at my desk for months and months as a fresh graduate working for game companies, and it isn’t just for the final push grind. It’s all year round, a Foxconn grind, sometimes 20 hour work days with no days off for months – yes literally and with your sleeping bag. Google around and read about how industry-wide and prevalent this actually is. You try to have a life and your threatened or let go and they just hire new fresh grads for cheap. It is slave labor and I got out of that hell.
MY POINT: People arguing that DRM is to ensure the people who put hard work in are properly compensated have no idea what they’re babbling about; I lived it! We hard a hard enough time getting our FAIR and LEGAL pay! I will never support greedy execs and their spying for more profits.

I’ve yet to play Tomb Raider, but I want to. For me, JC3 failed because it looks, and feels bloody awful.
True, the port’s pretty crud and the game just feels very rough, and i’m glad i got a chance to see that first hand. But if you get over that, i had great fun last night dragging a large yacht out of the water and through a busy city intersection, dragging it with my twin tethers screeching over ground to get it to the garage to ‘collect’.
Oh, and ‘getting into the zone’, wingsuiting/parachuting around the airstrike area while nuking it from above.
I don’t know if i’ll push to buy if this gets fixed though, but i may see if i can get it at sale.

I legally own Rise of the tomb raider, CPY has now hacked the game as Voksi bypass failed. I tested both and the CPY one works 100% even with my version. So it looks like DENOVU might be sweating at last! I’d rather give David Cameron my money as at least he’s open to how much he steals after spending it!
