Judgement feature

Judgment and Lost Judgment are not coming to PC due to Takuya Kimura’s talent agency

Even though the entire Yakuza series is available on PC, its spin-offs, Judgment and Lost Judgment, have not been announced for it. And, from the looks of it, these two games will not be coming at all on our platform.

Back in February, we assumed there was an exclusivity deal with Stadia. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case. According to a report from Nikkan Taishu, Takuya Kimura’s talent agency has forbidden SEGA from releasing these two games on PC.

Taishu states that Sega wanted to publish both Judgment and Lost Judgment on PC/Steam to further extend the series’ audience. However, Takuya Kimura’s talent agency refrained them from doing so due to their very strict portraiture rights policy.

“Johhny’s has a very strict policy over the images of its celebrities, and only some of their images are online. Johhny’s does not want their talent portraits at a PC platform that is not a game console platform and connects directly to the Internet.”

Taishu also claims that Sega will end the Judgment series with the second entry.

Now while this may sound ridiculous, it’s actually true. Johnny’s had previously censored Famitsu from displaying Judgment’s main protagonist at the game’s launch.

So there you have it, everyone. No Judgment and Lost Judgment for us!

  1. “Johhny’s does not want their talent portraits at a PC platform that is
not a game console platform and connects directly to the Internet.”- My Granpa (1999).

  2. Rockstar saying GTA6 game director probably hasn’t even been born yet and this article is the dumbest s##t i’ve read today. Whatever… I’ll just continue to replay old classic favorite games.

  3. They are afraid that they “superstar” will be affected by the modding community, and the agency and that actor don’t want to see him in mods

  4. SEGA just doesn’t seem to get it. It’s a bad idea to use the real look for your ingame characters.

I have no idea who this guy is, he looks like a have-been boyband singer entering his mid-life crisis.

They could release the game on PC, just use a different face. No problem.

    1. Not just face, but the voice too. I don’t think they want to spend extra budget to do that.

      1. They did in the past.

I think it would be best for future installments to get rid of the guy. Nothing would be lost, honestly. If there’s one thing that bothered me about Judgement, it’s the look of the main hero, with his skinny jeans, boyband haircut and leather jacket. Just all around terrible character design. Who wants to be play as that guy?

        1. They did this back in the 2010s for Yakuza 4, Sega recasted the actor for the Tanimura detective that was one of playable characters in Yakuza 4.

    2. “he looks like a have-been boyband singer entering his mid-life crisis.”
That’s exactly what he is. A boy band singer from about 30 years ago.

  5. The fact that sega is willing to cancel the series cause they dont wanna bring it to pc shows how much they turned around on the platform. Looks like its bringing in the moolah for them.

    1. But they did want to bring it to PC. It’s the lead actor’s talent agency (Johnny’s) that doesn’t. I would probably fold on the series, too, if I couldn’t get out of a contract that wouldn’t be profitable to my company in the slightest (nor be able to expand my franchise to a new audience).

  6. This was one of the few Yakuza games I thought looked interesting, that’s too bad it was cancelled by narcissism.

  7. Just use whatever actor that play in Yakuza series for your next game as they less demanding than taky…

    1. This kind of thing are normal with jap developer. And not once issues like this makes the port for western version of the game end up being more complicated or even out right being cancelled.

    1. Yeah if they plan to use that actor, then he can have certain things in his contract…it’s how negotiations works…?

  8. WTF. I knew this Johnny Agency is trash. I remember Inuyasha BD’s (Spanish and others) changed the OP since the music belong to that agency.

It’s thankfully restored in the US BD.

F*king shame that series is not coming to PC due to some old men don’t know how the internet works.

  9. They will regret this when the PC get’s a stable PS4 emulator and they get 0 profit from the game on PC.

  10. As a yakuza fan I had no interest in this game in the first place the character looks lame and the story doesnt grab me either, I would rather see them do another game with ichiban, but not a turn base game

  11. Well that stubborn dumb agency just lost big money on otherwise guaranteed Judgment 3 game and possibly more sequels. GG keep living in the 70s

  12. This is the kind of weird, pointless, and asinine corporate bullshit that exists in Japan. A f*king talent agency for an actor has more control over where a product is released and distributed over the actual product maker. The whole world would be screwed up if this were more prevalent in the rest of the world, imagine the owner of an ingredient dictating where you can and cannot sell or produce your own food. Sega honestly should cut this Takuya dude and replace him with another actor just like they did for Tanimura in Yakuza 4.

  13. Is this 1 April joke on July 12?

Well thanks for PS4 versions at least – gonna pirate them there and then play on an emulator when available.

  14. ***Johhny’s does not want their talent portraits at a PC platform that is not a game console platform and connects directly to the Internet.***
More gaming PCs not connected to the internet 24/7 than PS5 and XSeX consoles.

Where to tell this ret4rd that it’s not 2003 anymore?
